LONDON -- Universal Studios is opening up a Harry Potter theme park in Florida — complete with the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the Forbidden Forest and Hogsmeade village.

"The Wizarding World of Harry Potter," will open in late 2009 in Orlando, officials said Thursday...

The Potter park will allow visitors to view the iconic locations in Rowling's magical world, like Dumbledore's office in Hogwarts and the shops in Hogsmeade. Some locations may be in upcoming books, Trowbridge said.

I know I sound like such a geek, but I'm actually excited!

Move this if it's not in the right place please. =)

But why, Kimmy? sad.gif

Because I dont feel like having to camp out for a week before it opens to get tickets with my HP-obsessed little sister. XD.gif sad.gif

So is it going to be its own theme park? Because now I hear that it's just going to be a small section inside Universal. I think that would be a little better. It being its own entire park would be a little overwhelming, at least for me.... I've never really been a big fan of HP. But it being its own section inside of a park seems like something I'd want to check out. _smile.gif

It sounds funn!
Hopefully they build some thrill rides in this section.
Because there arent many thrill rides at Disney.
Even though I mean when I go its so much other stuff to do that you really sometimes dont pay attention.

OFFICIAL UNIVERSAL STUDIOS WEBSITE

the wizarding world of harry potter will provide a one of a kind opportunity to experience the magical workd of harry and his friends. the fully immersive, themed land will enable gusts to visit some of the most iconic locations found in the books and the films including the village of hogsmeade, the mysetious forbidden foruest and even hogwarts castle itself.

but as far as i know, that's just the plans for now. I hope that they incorporate SOME of the new places from the latest book. biggrin.gif

You are NOT a geek I am so excited I am already saving Money for the trip (and they said they would open in 2009 so I am like saving a good two years earlier) so I can buy as many souvenirs as possible from that place. Plus like 80% of my entire life has been devoted to Harry potter for the last seven or eight years and I am now 17. Another thing Nevercall your self a geek it lowers you self esteem plus in my head anything to do with Harry Potter isn't geeky at all. biggrin.gif

I have to views on this. Obsessive yet creative. I like the idea of it, but I think people are just going a little too far. If you get what I mean, yeah. Also, I'd think it would have been planned out to be put in England or California, never Florida for that matter. Well at least theres actually now something to attract people to the EC.

I think it might actually have to do with contracts, but forgive me if I'm incorrect. Warner Bros. happens to have the rights to the movie but the theme park is being built under the rights of Universal. I mean, if the movies are American based why can't the theme park be? shrug.gif, just my assumptions.

You should really watch the interview of Emma Watson on Conan O'Brian, she complains about how HORRIBLE it sounds when Americans try to do British accents. There's always way too much cockney. So, if Hermione Granger says so herself, Americans are probably not good enough to fake it.
