i was messing around on collegehumor.com and i found ANOTHER HIP-HOP VIOLINIST!! yay. http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1760914 this chick is rocking out the black eyed peas.

hip-hop violin is starting to become mainstream! yay! i play viola, but i'm pretty awesome http://myspace.com/viaj if u wanna hear me, i'm not that good, but i won a silver medal for playing Alicia Keys!

hip-hop violin acts include Black Violin [i got to meet them], Nuttin But Stringz [step up movie, ncaa tournament music], Miri Ben-Ari [twista overnight celebrity video]

these people are so awesome!! WE are so awesome! i'm actually trying to start a hip-hop/classical band @ my school with a pianist and another instrument

heard of any of them, think its awesome? express!

The girl with the violin doesn't sound like hip-hop for me IMO. It seems like she's just playing the violin but doing hip hop moves.

I love Nuttin' But Stringz. I have there whole album. It's so great. My friend did a hip-hop dance routine for their show on the song,
Broken Sorrow from Nuttin' But Stringz. I loved it.

_smile.gif I think you have a good violin tone... just sometimes the intonation goes wack.
Is hip-hop violin an actual genre, though? Or is it like violins just playing hip hop music...

yea...intonation. my professors tell me i need to work on that too.

hip-hop violin isn't a set genre yet, but it's a mix of classical, hip-hop, jazz, funk, even rock sometimes! i like how more and more people are doing it, so eventually it'll get a name.

Much respect to you for fusing something old with something new.

Not a classically trained musician or anything, but I agree with Ralph501. Nonetheless, sounds great to me. :]

You're welcome. You should try cello or violin too. Heck, maybe even the double bass.
