Birth Control question, Just a quickie.

I am not on birth control, yet, but I was wondering if it was necessary to still use an emergency contraception pill if the male ejaculates inside you?
Because I know people who use birth control AND condoms, and I wasn't sure if that's how birth control is meant to work...

This can be closed as soon as I get an answer. Thanks :)

the guy can ejaculate inside of you if you're on BC. note, BC isn't 100% effective, but very close - 98 to 99. i think a lot of people feel that BC + condoms together can be 100% effective, so they do that.

but plan B is not necessary if you're already on BC.

what i'd do is use an online fertility calculator (elba posted a link to one in a thread somewhere) and use condoms + BC during those peak dates. just to be safe. otherwise, BC alone should be sufficient. everything just depends on how paranoid you are, haha. i sure as hell know that i do not want a kid now so i try to take all the precautions i can.

hope that helped!

Are you going on the pill?

I know there's a short time period when you start where you should use back-up contraceptives. That information can be found in the instructions.

Other than when you first start the pill, there's no need to use a condom, or the EC pill. Unless you miss the pill two days in a row. You should be good if you forget one day, but just take it a soon as you remember. And of course if you're wanting to protect yourself from STDs, use a condom. But I'm sure you don't need to worry about that.

So yeah, basically, he can do his business all he wants eyebrowes.gif and you shouldn't have to worry. Just make sure you take your pill at around the same time daily.

ooh yeah, that time frame when you 1st start. when i went to get my 1st prescription, the doctor told me to wait a week, but online websites usually say around one month, or an entire pack. ask to make sure.

In the most current issue of Cosmo, they actually answer this question Mishhy.

"If you start the Pill pack on the first day of your period, you're protected during that cycle. Start the Pill pack @any other time, and it'll take just one week for the hormones in the pill to kick in."

You should still use condoms if you're worried about the STDs. Then again, if you're worried that he has STDs, you probably shouldn't be having sex with him...

idk if that is completely accurate. My doctor told me after the first month.
I guess it just depends, my dosage wasn't very high, so yeah.
Just read the instructions that come with the pill.

I don't know if this the answer you looking for...

All girls that on the pill don't use just for sex, my cousin use it because she has bad headaches and crimps so they not just for that.

Why did you use a blinking smiley? Some girls take the pill for their period because they may have bad headaches or cramps but not only to prevent them from pregnancy.

^ Yeah, I think that's widely known, but I'm pretty sure that's not the reason she made this thread, haha.

HAHA @ Rachel and Elba's comments about Steven.

Anyway, if the guy should ejaculate inside you and you're not using any pill then you should take the morning pill within the first 72 hours of the time you last had sex.

But, if you're already on the pill then there's no need to use the morning pill or even condoms. The regular pill is 98 % effective (so says my doctor).

All I know is that out of 100 people only 2 using birth control get pregnant. pinch.gif But if you wanna be really safe and dont wanna risk being thre 2% then I'd say you use the condom.

BC + condoms are not all thats safe. ive asked my OBGYN. you miss pills and u have sex ur F***ed majorlly. i have it and im not thats sexually active. i have it to see if they can reverse the spreading of scar tissue that developed over the years. i also take it for the cramps and mood swings. but as ur body becomes use to the pill it slows down how fast your body reacts to it. some ppl use it to regulate thier periods also.

When you miss a pill, you're really only f**ked if you don't realize that you have missed it an you take it as soon as you remember, even if that means taking two at once. One time, not too long ago, I missed a day and didn't realize it until a few days later. This totally f**ked up my cycle. Other times, I forget to take it on time, but I usually end up remembering, so I may end up taking two the same day. This is okay and it doesn't require any back-up contraceptives. All of the info you really need is in the pamphlet that comes with the pills.
