I hate it when I get associated with a group of people simply because I share their interests at some comically small level. For instance, Hunter S. Thompson. I love Thompson's books, I think they're all great, especially the Gonzo papers and Kingdom of Fear. I also find the lifestyle he chose very interesting, but not something I would try to replicate. However, because of my fondness for this particular writer, I get grouped in with Hippies and Acid freaks that could only tell you the name of one of his books, which is Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Excellent book and great movie, but not my favorite of his writings. Don't get me wrong, I love hippies and I love acid heads. If I could choose to be like them, I would. But in the end, it's not me.
Another example, the band Tool. My favorite band, in my opinion one of the greatest groups in the history of rock and very underrated. But because I love this band, I get grouped with all these manic depressive black everything freaks who tattoo "Maynard is My God" on their forehead. Okay, hes a really good singer, but in the end he is replaceable. The ones who really make the band are the guitarist Adam Jones who actually formed the band, and Danny Carey who is in my opinion and widely known throughout the world as one of the best drummers alive if not the best. I just don't appreciate associations. f**k em. P.S. That would be Jerry Cantrell, guitarist for Alice in Chains in my avatar, a cell phone pic I took at a concert last year. Best show Ive ever been to and Im hoping to top it by seeing Tool in July. |

yes he is, but they broke up following a dismal failure on their last album which was full of anti-war protest songs. A huge disappointment for me, considering 3 Libras was one of my favorite songs. At least I was able to see them live which was great.

Do yourself a huge favor and go buy a Tool CD if you havent already. Im guessing you would like them if you liked a perfect circle. Get Aenima or Lateralus first, theyr the best ones.

So basically you're talking about really fast stereotyping right? I totally agree with you, just because you do one thing that maybe a little different from your regular self doesn't suddenly make you a completely different person.
It just goes to show how quickly people can judge or assume things. |

I went to my chiropractor before school one afternoon. My school uniform is black scrubs.
So anyways, I walked in and my chiropractor called me goth! wtf? I do hate when people do it. I know my chiropractor was just kidding, so it didnt bother me much. But when people do it, and they are serious. It's ridiculous. |
