Did you change anything to the game in between it working and then not working? Like importing in objects or something.

It depends on how great of a pc you have. I imagine if there was a month in between, you may have downloaded a few things? The Sims 2 takes up a lot of room, for a normal store bought pc.

Also, when you visit websites, your computer gets more and more cookies, which are saved to your computer. [The point of cookies, are so if you frequently visit a website, and you have the cookies, it doesn't take so long to load.]

Anyways, that's probably the problem.

The things you downloaded. One of those downloaded things is incompatible and buggy. Either find out which thing you downloaded is corrupt, or delete everything that you downloaded.

Make sure when you download Sims addons, that the content is compatible with your version of Sims2. On that note, is your Sims2 version patched and up to date?

If you delete everything that you downloaded, it should work fine.

I suspect that something you downloaded was corrupt.
It is possible, though, that because the Sims 2 takes up so much space/power to run, that something weird is up with your computer.

First, go download the latest patch for the Sims 2. Sims 2 Patch 1.0.0.971
Then try to run your game; does it work? If not, you've most likely downloaded something that's causing your game to crash.

--> Download this: The Sims 2 Content Manager Tool. It'll let you see what you've added to your Sims game from downloading, and let you enable, disable or delete those objects. I recommend deleting everything and starting afresh; download stuff that's made from more 'credible' sites to avoid future problems like this.
