This guy named Peter Wang (not sure on spelling) got expelled for a year and arrested recently for creating a very realistic Counterstrike map of our highschool - Clements High School.

He was a senior, and he was going to graduate soon, until some ass-hole random mom turned him in.

He created the map 4 months ago, but there was no mayhem about it until after V.T. and all the other school shootings.

IMO, it was unnecessary to expel and arrest him. They arrested him for finding a "weapon" in his room. The deadly weapon: a regular hammer.

EDIT/
Not a hammer; there were decorative swords in his home.
They are not expelling him, but transferring him to an alternative school and not allowing him to participate in graduation activities.

Protesters are still fighting for him to return to school and be allowed to walk, etc.

why would they do that. shouldnt they know that he was a good kid or something. wouldnt someone speak out for him.

Wow, that's pretty dumb. I could understand if he was questioned as to why he had the map, but I don't understand him being arrested.

?

Sounds like they overreacted. The map was created four months ago, so if the cops had any sense, they would have known that the recent VTech shooting couldn't have influenced him from creating the map. Saying "well Cho Seung-Hui's plan was also planned for months" is no alibi for that foolishness.

For someone who was about to graduate, they should have better analyzed the situation.

I know that I'm assuming here, but I'm pretty sure that looking good to the parents was part of deciding on such a harsh and unneessary punishment.

After a large number of protesters, they're allowing him to finish school at an alternative school and graduate. He won't be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony though :/

To the comment above,

the parents are pissed off as hell. And so is the majority of the Asian population from my school and their parents. They have been protesting and fighting against his punishment.

Wow, they definitely went a bit too far.
Yeah, the map thing should be questioned but "expel"? For a hammer?

You only get one graduation ceremony.
He should be allowed to walk across the stage.

Two words:
RACIAL PROFILING.

This crap basically ruined his senior year. As Arjuna previously stated, he definitely couldn't have been influenced by the Virginia Tech shooting because he created the map four months ago. So they really have no relevant evidence that he was "planning" to do anything. In my opinion, I don't think a hammer can be called a deadly weapon because most people have them in their houses for productive purposes, not to murder people. Also, if that certain parent was so concerned about it, then she should have turned him in earlier, not right after a massacre occurs. Why was he not questioned? I think it's wrong to just arrest someone without any evidence whatsoever that a crime was going to be committed.

I understand why it's ridiculous and I agree, but just a question: Why does everyone in this topic keep mentioning his race? Why does him being Asian matter? Why should the Asian community do something and not everyone?....I'm white and I think it's stupid.

Exactly, you're "white", you wouldn't understand.

The truth is Asian are treated differently. It depends on if you want to believe it... if that makes any sense.

If the world was full of people like you, racism and discrimination wouldn't be a problem, because by saying "Why does him being Asian matter?", it shows that you see people for more than their race :).

now about the topic...
This is outrageous. I have decorative swords all over my house, it's a cultural thing. I think someone should start a petion to help this kid. Race is the main issue here, especially because of the VT shootings.
If I was him, I would go as far as trying to sue the school district.

Oh please, everyone gets discriminated upon. Asians get discriminated upon, and they discriminate as well. Same with blacks, whites, hispanics and all that jazz.

And I'm pretty sure she does understand even though she's "white", and I think it was pretty close-minded and ignorant for you to say something like that.

I'm not saying Asians are the only ones discriminated against, because no fake, blacks, mexicans, and other minorities are all discriminated against. I am just stating that Asians are discriminated against. So my point is, I bet if the map creator was "white" (caucasian), they would have not been expelled.

when I used "white", i wasn't trying to use it negatively
and she said "Why does everyone in this topic keep mentioning his race? Why does him being Asian matter?" which makes me think that she doesn't see discrimination, therefore she doesn't understand.

and again, her not seeing discrimination is actually a good thing
I wrote "If the world was full of people like you, racism and discrimination wouldn't be a problem, because by saying "Why does him being Asian matter?", it shows that you see people for more than their race :)."

so please, I don't think I'm ignorant or close-minded

They have done a lot, actually.

He is now allowed to walk (graduate with his class) and go to school at an alternative school.

This has also become a political thing because the Asian community is basically going to side with whichever candidate attempts to help him. shrugs*

^Good! My friend did a presentation on this exact subject and I wasn't surprised that, in a class full of juniors, we reacted most strongly in response to the whole not-being-able-to-walk thing.

Wow. I think they're taking it to an extreme measure. I mean sure, we should all be more cautious because of the V.T incident but that doesn't mean that everyone else out there is out to blow up the world. The world is so awfully racist.

Actualy, mishy, I found out from richard tonight that he's being allowed to walk and that they're denying ever suspending him. Only thins is he has missed the past 4 weeks of school and he's in full AP/Honors and has to take ALL his finals with hardly any prep time.

Yup, I go to the same school as Mishy, and this has been a HUGE topic of discussion. I'm glad they repealed the expulsion and allowed him to walk, but I think he should still have to take his exams, simply because he wasn't in school for a period of time and needs the grade to make up for it.
