What makes you extra motivated to do trivial things like cleaning the house or home work?

I'm having such a hard time being motivated lately. ermm.gif

For some reason when i'm watching the food channel it makes me want to clean the house.

or if my room is in dire need of cleaning i tell myself that i can't watch any movies until the task at hand is done. sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. . . majority of the time it doesn't.

ugh. . .gotta find a new strategy.

Usually if I have a lot of time on my hands or if I watch an inspirational thing on television. Yeah...I have no life.

I don't get inspired or motivated very easily at all... I guess in my mind I am, like I always think it'd be cool if I actually did whatever, but it never translates into having to actually be done.

Convincing myself that they're not trivial tasks, and rewarding myself with a huge vat of ice cream afterwards.

I motivate myself by thinking that it's all worth it in some way. If that doesn't work then I threaten to not have that ice cream that was saved for me cry.gif

I really, really don't know anymore.

Generally, I can only motivate myself by caring about something, and I suppose that stems from teh subconcious.

That seems to work better if someone else is keeping the ice cream >_>.

i motivate myself by telling myself that it'll be better in the end. like, cleaning up my messy desk is a benefit for me in some way. or, if i fold the laundry & put them away, my parents will have less things to do. so yeah.

Usually when i`m upset about things. I don`t know. Sometimes, when I have nothing else to do, and the internet is boring, I`ll just start cleaning something. But that`s rarely. rolleyes.gif

Talk to someone you'd do anything for about it.

I have a friend that I talk to when I can't get to sleep... and when he's like "WTF GET TO SLEEP" at three in the morning when I'm up for no reason, I actually do.

It scarred me for life.

If it's something like cleaning up my room or doing house chores, I blast some music while having to do it; the whole deal goes by much faster and I feel less bored.

If it's running, I also can use music for my motivation to keep running further, faster, longer- but running with a friend is also pretty good too. :)

If it's studying for a test or homework, I think of college. That usually makes me freak out and remind myself to study hard.

If I can't muster up the motivation to get me going, my son will do it for me. I'm lucky in that respect.

I try to think about the consequences of not doing something, but that just doesn't work as a good motivator for me. I think it comes down to that positive conditioning or positive reinforcement type of thinking. So, for example, if I don't feel like getting up and doing laundry, I won't order pizza that night. But is that negative reinforcement, to deprive myself?

My mom, or dad, they'll make me do chores and stuff when I don't want to, meh. But like if I'm watching TV, I'll clean my room withoout asking.
