So, there's a lot of Celebrities these days who've decided to design clothing as well.
For example, Justin Timberlake - William Rast, Mandy Moore - Mblem, Scarlett Johansson designed for Adidas and now she's designing for Reebok, and Paris Hilton has designed a clothing line for Steve Madden.

Personally, I'd prefer for celebrities to leave the clothes alone. Say, if Ashely and MK Olsen decided to start designing clothing, more and more people would probably end up looking like hobos with their oversized...everythings. And, taking Mblem as an example, all Mandy Moore does, is design "vintage-looking" tees. I just feel that there's nothing special about them, and why buy a vintage-looking tee for at least $50 or so when you can actually go to a vintage store and get much cheaper actual vintage tees?

Thoughts?

Ashley and MK have a line that is sold at Wal-mart or something, dont they? huh.gif
I know I've seen it before somewhere, but its really old.

I do agree that celebs should leave clothing design to the real designers.
Though, maybe a few would do well.

I think it's cool that they design clothes and all, but most of their stuff is shit. I agree about what you said about the brand new 'vintage' haha. That's kind of dumb, but rich folks will do as they will.

Jessica Simpson's shoe line is ADORABLE.

Well their are some celebrities that just endorse something and then there are celebrities that somewhat take part in the designing. Most of the clothes and accessories are too much for me to buy. I do like some of the L.A.M.B. stuff. If I was rich I'd buy 100 dollar shoes.

Oh yeah, I forgot about L.A.M.B. I love a lot of their stuff, and Toki Doki and Harajuku Lovers. Gwen Stefani's amazing style seeps into her stuff; thank goodness. I adore her.

Tyson Ritter (singer of all-american rejects) has a line called "Butter... the clothes", but it's just a bunch of t-shirts that are rather boring.

Emma Roberts works with Dooney and Bourke to design "her own" bags. But I saw an ad-article about it, and all she really does is mix and match patterns and colors and things that the company gives her to choose from.

What's his name... Rev Run? His daughters have designed tennis shoes for something, in "cake colors"... blink.gif

Only a few celebrities have actual fashion worthy lines, like Gwen Stefani and Pharrel Williams. JLo's is pretty successful too.

I think the only way for their lines to be legitimate is to actually be really involved with them. I think most celebrities are too busy with all the other obligations they have to really pay attention to their clothing lines. They rarely actually come up with the designs on their own. There's always a team of people, basically just bouncing ideas off of them until there's something they like. It's just another thing they're trying to do, just so they can say they've done it.

^ When you mentioned Rev Run it reminded me of the Phat Farm and Baby Phat stuff. I have a friend who is obsessed with Baby Phat.

Oh yes, Baby Phat technically is designed by a celebrity too. Although Kimora Lee Simmons is more of a model turned celebrity/designer.

I like Harajuku Lovers by Gwen Stefani... it's one of the only celebrity lines I buy from.
Dooney and Burke, (though technically not entirely a celebrity line... since Emma Roberts isn't the exclusive designer) also has some really cute handbags/totes I love...
but for the most part, I stay away from celebrity lines. There's more affordable stuff and cool clothes out there... in my opinion.

Well it's not like they're actually designing it on their own. They have plenty of professionals helping them. Also, they should have a good idea of how to do it because most are around it a lot. Most of the designs are just their style made for everyone else to wear.

It's just a fad. Every time one celebrity starts something, the rest follow... Like sheep. Usually the more that join, the worse they are. Charlie Sheen designs children's clothes for God's sake. blink.gif

dont really know anything about celebrity fashion lines...or fashion at all...just sayin that i think celebrities do it so their celebrity status goes up, not that they can become an "accomplished" designer...i mean, when i hear people talk about the great designers, u never really hear celebrities

ppl are always saying that:

"not all rappers can be actors"
"not all singers can be rappers"
"not all actors can be rappers"
"not all actors can be rappers"
and the newest one:
"not all celebrities can design clothes"

well in my opinion...
if they r good, they r good nd let them be. they will eventually notice if ppl r buying their things or not. trust me they will notice...

L.A.M.B is adorable. I reckon Gwen Stefani can pull it off like woah.
Others.. ehh, not so sure. Doesnt Beyonce have her own stuff as well? Or not yet?
Maybe its a rumour... we're all slow here in Australia. pinch.gif
Kinda similar with all the perfumes these days. Britney.. Kylie... I mean theyre alright.
But perfumes just a perfume to me shrug.gif Nothing special.

I Love L.A.M.B.

Certain celebs actually can design. Whereas others I guess are just doing it..well, just because.

Justin Timberlake came out with a line, right?
So is.. Sarah Jessica Parker..her clothers are okay.

I don't really care whether they do or not...some just happen to be actually good designers, while others not so much.

Basically agree. While Posh's denim is doing well, I'd much rather pay $300 for a pair of Citizens or True Religions.

Yeah.. the majority of celebrities that have fashion lines of some sort.. don't actually "design" them. They pretty much just slap their name on the line, which, as you have to admit, gets people to buy it. I do agree, however, that Gwen Stefani's and Kate Moss's clothes are.. cute.
