If someone begins to confide in you, are you or do you feel obligated to then begin confiding in them?

No, not really. I still listen to them and give them advices, but I don't open up to them just because they opened up to me.

YES.
I just have such a huge conscience all the time. If some person were to trust me with their secret, I'd feel pretty special, then later I'd start thinking, "Wait...what if they wanted ME to tell them something, too?" Pretty much. |

I've been so-called "confiding" in other people (although I don't think telling people of the death is all that secret), and I sometimes see this hesitance with people when it comes to our relationship thereafter. Some continue it like it was, but some almost distance themselves as if I'm gonna' start "confiding" more in them. Then some people have started to tell me more and more. Admittedly, I think it's nice that those that have been confiding more are (I'm one to appreciate more close friends lately) doing so.

No. It's nice that they feel they can confide in me, but I might not be comfortable telling them personal things about me. It depends on the person, though.

The fact that they confide in me means they trust me. But that doesn't mean I trust them enough to confide in them. It's earnt in time.

once in a while people will confide in me about something but i dont feel like i have to tell them something "in return". i dont like tellin people about many things cause i feel as if im burdening them with my problems so i usually keep to myself until i need help from my select few i really trust in my life

Not at all. I talk about my more personal life sometimes when I think it's going to help him or her and if that person's just desperate for any sort of advice, but otherwise I don't confide in people.

It kinda warms my heart if they do confide in me. Usually, I'm a very dependent person, so of course I confide almost anyone. If someone has trust in me, I would hate to disappoint them.

I agree with this. It is a little boost to my ego when people trust me enough to tell me a secret. However, it doesn't give me the urge to share a secret in return.. it depends on the person's personality, how close of a friend that person is to me, how trustworthy they are (in my eyes), and if I feel comfortable letting them know. |

No... I mean, not everyone is reliable or very good at even listening to problems. I'd be flattered if they confided in me, but it's their choice to.

When I meet someone, we tend to become friends pretty quickly, and in idle conversation I tend to tell stories about my life depending on how they relate to our topic of discussion. Sometimes these are personal, so I guess you could say I open up fairly easily. I would't say, however, that if a person started pouring out his or her soul to me that I'd feel obligated to do the same. I guess how easily I open up to people depends on my mood which I'll admit can change pretty frequently.
