This may be a strange post at best, but how do you hug?

Sometimes hugs can be really awkward. Kind of a bump together mesh sort of thing, flapping your arms around the other, unsure where they're supposed to fit.

Sorry the poll's so extensive! I just wanted to be sure I covered everything thumbsup.gif

Depends on a lot of things (like height and situation).
I'm a girl. If the person is taller than me, both arms bottom. If the person is shorter, both arms on top. But then if I'm running toward the person to hug them (XD.gif), then sometimes right arm on top and left on bottom.

I think I sort of just run and hug. Haha and whereever my arms go then that's how I hug. I guess it's both arms on bottom. =)

Usually when I hug its both hands on bottom. But ifits a running hug it'd be on top. And situation and position dependent, it can be one hand on top and one on bottom.

Arms on top for just guy friends/girl friends.
Arms on bottom for boyfriends/guys I like.
I would do vice versa but boyfriends/guys I like seem to like my bottom hugs better. So eh screw guy friends/girl friends.

Man I must say that this is kind of an intruiging topic. I've never really paid much attention to the way I hug people. But now that I think of it, I hug with my right arm on top and my left arm on the bottom. Oh, and I think it's a habit of mine also to always tip toe whenever I hug anyone. Last week, I hugged someone with both arms on top and its sooooo weird. Haha.

uhh... when i say bye my arms are on his shoulders, but if its like for fun and we joke around and such, my arms are around his waste [like he usually does]... hes really tall, so im usually tipy toeing when i hug lol

LMAO this recently happened to me. I was reaching up to put my arms around his neck and he was going to put his arms around my neck an we just...collided. Horribly awkward.
But yeah, sometimes it depends on the person. If they're too tall I wrap my arms around their midsection instead.

It depends on who I'm hugging. It's weird though cuz everyone hugs differently so I have to change my hug for everyone. Mostly for guys i hug around the waist cuz i'm small and most of my guy friends are real tall so it's the easiest way.

I always hug with both arms on top when hugging guys, but with girls I sometimes hug with my right arm on top and left on the bottom. My old best friend and I used to hug the latter way.

I don't hug and i'm not familiar with all those ways to hug on the list. Because i've never really been hugged in my life. Last time I got a genuine hug was probably over 7 years ago.

they way you hug has nothing to do with gender or anything like that. it mostly has to do who it is youre hugging


People hug people all the way if they are affectionate. People do the *pat pat* thing to show affection to those that look up to them or to close friends. People do the back rub thing to show affection to a intimate friend or otherwise, etc.

The hugs dont really have to do with gender

This is kind of an old thread, but I'm surprised no one has mentioned the side hug. In most cases if I'm hugging just anyone, it's from the side, one arm and a brief pat. Someone close to me I'll hug from the front but usually unless it's an "emotional" moment I still only use one arm. xD

I usually get hugged with her, whoever she happens to be, arms under, so I guess with my arms up top. Sometimes I'll get hugged around the neck though which makes my hands go to her waist. Just depends.
