How often do you reply to a post with only reading the starting post. As in, you dont even read what otehrs said you just replied to the first post? Dont deny it, we all have done it XD.gif

If it's one of those "What Did Everyone and They Mamas Do Today" threads, I'm probably not going to go through and read all of the replies. Though, if it's a more in depth thread, such as in Debate, I probably will bother reading all the replies. (Unless I missed twenty pages or something.)

With a few counted exceptions, you can safely post anywhere in CB without bothering to read what others have said. Sometimes you could even skip the opening post, since the title alone offers sufficient information to form a reply.

Ultimately, it's a matter of being curious enough to see if someone has posted something original although there are other factors to consider.

Depends. If i'm really lazy, i'll just read the first post. If I want to read the other posts I do.

Most of the time, I try to look for new topics or recently started ones so it's faster to read the posts. But sometimes, the first post isn't even a real reply like in those music topics about indie bands and the first person who replied hasn't even heard of them... yeah.

Nah, I usually read the first post and then skim the other replies. If one reply catches my eye, I might quote it. If not, I just make my own reply.

But if it's like "What's your favorite color", best believe that will be a driveby post.

So why even bother posting in such a thread in the first place? In fact, why bother starting the thread if no one's going to read most of it anyway? Is it because of post count?

Agreed with Suzzette. It just depends on what the topic is asking. If it's a simple opinion that the person wants to know, then I'd just read the first few posts and post my own. But if its like a cB Revolution, yeah, I'd read the whole thing.

I mean if it's there, I'm going to answer it. There isn't any high-level thinking behind it. There are topics you think about, and there are topics that are just fun. Sure there are less topics that you think about, but that's not my problem. The people who want more in depth topics should create more.

I'm the same way now, for the most part. I remember when I first starting coming here and all the driveby post type topics would really irritate me. Then at one point, I just got over it. I used to totally be a PPD Officer. I think I've mellowed out some and perhaps that has something to do with it (me not getting so irritated at the flippity topics, that is).

I don't think anyone intentionally creates topics thinking or knowing that no one is going to read most of it.

Having said that, I do read all the replies. Well, most of the time I do. Sometimes there just isn't enough time. There have also been occasions where I've taken so much time reading through an entire thread, that I don't actually post. Which is silly.

And yeah, it's subjective. A couple of examples would be that I may not be as inclined to read through 15 pages of what people were listening to, but I will more than likely read through a topic dealing with parental issues. I like seeing those perspectives, especially from the younger posters because, as a parent I am curious to see what you guys are going through with your parents. If that makes any sense.

It really depends on what the topic is about, if it is atleast SOMEWHAT important, I'll read all or most of the posts.
But if it isnt too important, and I dont really care what others said, then I'll just reply.
Oh gosh, that sounds mean.

I always scroll to the bottom before hitting "reply" though, So that I can see who posted.
And sometimes I'll stop and read a post if its from someone who I like/enjoy reading their posts.

I am very, very, very careful about only posting in threads that require me to read the whole thing.

But if a topic's not even interesting enough for anyone to read through the whole thing, why do you want it to rise to the top (aside from the clear "I want a high post count/I want high visibility on the forums") issue? People do make in-depth topics—by the assertions of other members, I made fairly interesting topics (their words, not mine)—but more often, they got drowned out by topics that people posted in primarily to increase their exposure on CB.

Honestly, it's just easier to talk about the last person you texted than the last time you discussed disecting a premature lavendar pig in a hypothetical college apparatus monolothenum.

That's hot. And I'm comfortable with saying that.

ACK only if it's something important, like in Debate or something.
Otherwise I read the first couple posts, last couple posts, screw the middle and BOOM reply.
