Well it's pretty sad to think of your own death, for one. Then to think of your body bursting into flames, or getting dismembered or rotting away.

Not really. What happens, happens. What if you don't want to be a science experiment but your parents don't know that and they donate your body to amateur doctors that need practice? You know that pediatrcians in training actually have to practice on dead bodies of small children? I'm not trying to be funny either; it's really sad. We were discussing this in class today, and apparently these dead bodies of children come from third world countries ( I forget which ones). :T

there's a lot of controversy behind organ donation. a lot of people say it's against their religious beliefs, or they're scared their body will be disfigured afterwards at the funeral, if you take out tissues/cornea too, like an eye or skin, for example. then there's also a fear that if you chose to donate your vital organs, you won't be given full efforts from doctors to save you from dying at the end of your life... so that they can maximize chances of taking the organs. others believe you might still be alive when the procedure actually takes place, since your heart can spontaneously begin to beat again after it has stopped and because some doctors will only wait 2-3 minutes after your heart stops to begin taking the organ.

all the same, i agree with you, organs are a terrible thing to waste. i'd be willing to donate mine as long as it wasn't really an external thing like eyes or skin... and as long as i was really, really, REALLY dead by the time organ donation started.

I dunno, I really don't want my body burned to a crisp after I die.
Unless they like . . . toss my remains off a cliff or something so I'm free to roam the world on the wind. Not in the ocean though, I'd probably just wind up as part of a sand castle or in a fish's belly. And then someone will eat the fesh. Honestly, you know how much crap and stuff is in the ocean?

Wtf is really really dead? You're either dead or you're not. They're not going to rip organs out of your body if you still have a chance of living.

I think I want a combination of organ donation and cremtation as well. Anyway, burials don't appeal as much either. I wouldn't want anyone mourning after my death or feeling sad every time they visit the tombstone and cemetary.
