EDWARD CULLEN!!!!!!!!!!

I though MyMichelle's idea was great, a club for people who love Edward Cullen. Because really, who DOESN'T love him.

ABOUT EDWARD CULLEN
(Taken from Twilight Lexicon.)

Full name: Edward Anthony Masen Cullen

Date of birth: June 20, 1901

Date of change into a vampire: 1918

Source of change: Carlisle Cullen

Originally from: Chicago, IL

Hair color: Bronze

Eye color: Originally green, now vampire gold/black

Height: 6'2"

Physical description: Lanky, not bulky, boyish looking with untidy hair

Special talents: Mind reader

Hobbies: Collects cars and plays piano

Cars he drives: Silver Volvo S60R and a silver Aston Martin V12

EDWARD CULLEN QUOTES
(Mostly my favorites. Feel free to share yours and I'll add them on here!)

"What if I'm not a superhero? What if I'm the bad guy?" (Twilight, page 92.)

"I decided as long as I was going to hell, I might as well do it thoroughly." (Twilight, page 87.)

"It makes me ... anxious ... to be away from you." (Twilight, page 188.)

"Yes, you are exactly my brand of heroin." (Twilight, page 268.)

"Bella, I couldn't live with myself if I ever hurt you. You don't know how it's tortured me. the thought of you, still, white, cold ... to never see you blush scarlet again, to never see that flash of intuition in your eyes when you see through my pretenses ... it would be unendurable. You are the most important thing to me now. The most important thing to me ever." (Twilight, page 273.)

"And so the lion fell in love with the lamb." (Twilight, page 274.)

"What a sick, masochistic lion." (Twilight, page 274.)

"If I could dream at all, it would be about you. And I'm not ashamed of it." (Twilight, page 294.)

"For almost ninety years I've walked among my kind, and yours ... all the time thinking I was complete in myself, not realizing what I was seeking. And not finding anything, because you weren't alive yet." (Twilight, page 304.)

"I may not be human, but I am a man." (Twilight, page 311.)

"You are my life now." (Twilight, page 314.)

"You inspired this one." (Twilight, page 326.)

"You have saved me." (Twilight, page 474.)

"You are my life. You're the only thing it would hurt me to lose." (Twilight, page 474.)

"Yes, it is enough. Enough for forever." (Twilight, page 498.)

"Well, I wasn't going to live without you." (New Moon, page 19.)

"Bella, I can't live in a world where you don't exist." (New Moon, page 509.)

"But how could you believe me? After all the thousand times I've told you I love you, how could you let one word break your faith in me?" (New Moon, page 510.)

"I could see it in your eyes, that you honestly believed that I didn't want you anymore. The most absurd, ridiculous concept---as if there were any way that I could exist without needing you" (New Moon, page 510.)

"I'm here, and I love you. I have always loved you, and I will always love you. I was thinking of you, seeing your face in my mind, every second that I was away. When I told you that I didn't want you, it was the very blackest kind of blasphemy." (New Moon, page 510.)

"Before you, Bella, my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were stars---points of light and reason ... And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire; there was brilliancy, there was beauty. When you were gone, when the meteor had fallen over the horizon, everything went black. Nothing had changed, but my eyes were blinded by the light. I couldn't see the stars anymore. And there was no more reason for anything." (New Moon, page 514.)

"It was like my heart was gone---like I was hollow. Like I'd left everything that was inside me here with you." (New Moon, page 515.)

"Your hold is permanent and unbreakable. Never doubt that." (New Moon, page 524.)

"You're wounding my ego, Bella. I just proposed to you, and you think it's a joke." (New Moon, page 540.)

POTENTIAL EDWARD CULLENS
(Feel free to name your Edward and I'll add him to the list.)

Gaspard Ulliel (My personal favorite. He IS Edward. And um, the scar on his left cheek makes the smile look a little crooked, DOESN'T IT?!?!?!)

Henry Cavill (Stephenie Meyer's choice.)

Hugh Dancy (Though I think he's gorg, I think he's just a bit too old.)

Drew Fuller (I don't even know who he is.)

Robert Pattinson (I guess I could see it.)

Yay, first member!!! :)

As for the books, you'll either want to roll your eyes and smack the characters or angst along with them. You'll either love it or hate it. But I hope you'll love it. :) But for sure you're reaction will be: EDWARD CULLEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isn't he? At first I wasn't all that into him like other people on my LJ flist were. But after I read Twilight and pictured him as Edward... guh.

He's 22, born on November 25, 1984 (three days after me!) and he's French. (I must find videos of him speaking so I can hear his accent. I'm a sucker for accents.)

The only American movie he's been in is Hannibal Rising, as young Hannibal (I haven't seen it yet). He's been in a handful of French films, though I've only seen one: A Very Long Engagement. In that, he played Audrey Tautou's love. (But I wasn't into him back then so I don't quite remember his acting. If you wanted to see his movies, I'd wait for Hannibal Rising to be out on DVD and in the meantime, rent AVLE and Paris, Je T'aime (I heard he was good in that). :)

Hi Michelle, I'm Joy. :) I've seen you around the forums before... especially in the members' photos thread. And you are the cutest thing ever... I love your pictures.

I'm with you on the second favorite character and why I like Edward. He just makes you wish he really did exist and he were yours. The things he says, good Lord. (I'm quite the hopeless romantic.)

(About the banners, I feel a bit bias for not putting anyone but Gaspard on them. But, he's just so pretty to look at it! If any of you have requests for your own Edward sig, I'll be happy to make it.)

Yup, I guessed he was French when I saw his first name. happy.gif How awesome since I take French in school. Je t'aime, Gaspard~! Tu es beau...tres, tres beau. xD

AHH Audrey Tautou is such a lucky actress to have acted with him! That's awesome. I must see A Very Long Engagement then. I'll try to see everything else, too. Thanks. =]

About the sigs: Oh, I definitely don't mind that Gaspard's the only one on them. He is gorgeouss. Drew Fuller isn't that bad, though. I like him in the second picture.

I took French for three (or was it four?) years but I remember nothing. LOL. Kind of sad since I have family in France and when they visit I'm just like: mellow.gif

I can't wait for you to read the book. Though it might be a bad idea because then it might become an obsession. wacko.gif

(I knew it was a bad idea for me to read because someone on my flist read it and all she had to say was: EDWARD CULLEN. Which of course got me curious and I had to go out and buy the book. I read for 8 hours straight and the ONLY reason I didn't go out and buy New Moon right after was because it was 4 in the morning. LOL. As if I needed another thing to obsess over.)

Oh, that's okay. I like spazzing over books. Whenever I read a new book that has a really good ending (usually the main character gets the person they've always wanted), I squeal internally for a few moments. It's fun. I wouldn't mind being obsessed with these books. whistling.gif

Twilight is and it's only $7 at Wal*Mart. New Moon is $16 for a hardcover at Wal*Mart. (I was broke, too and usually don't like hardcover but I HAD To buy it.) And it's definitely worth it. (And if you WERE going to buy the hardcover of New Moon, I suggest you wait until May 5th, when the special edition with the first chapter of Eclipse is included. Though I don't know if it'll be a bit more expensive.)

Okay, thanks for telling me. The special edition probably will be more expensive than the original, but I don't want to wait that long to buy it. XD.gif I'm going to the library on Saturday to borrow them, and if my library doesn't have it, then... stubborn.gif I'll do what Michelle said to do. I hope.

Yeah, I like to spend a few hours at B&N sometimes on half days, but I almost never read books. I can be found in the manga section reading tons of manga. xD

WHY DO I LIKE EDWARD CULLEN? You have to love a guy who would break his heart and ruin his life in a vain attempt to ease the life of the person he loves. Even if it's the stupidest noble idea a guy can get.

WHY DO I LIKE EDWARD CULLEN? You have to love a guy who would break his heart and ruin his life in a vain attempt to ease the life of the person he loves. Even if it's the stupidest noble idea a guy can get.

EDIT Lord you people make me feel a bit old =P

Breaking Dawn is the tentative title of the fourth book in the series which she's currently still writing and I'm pretty sure that's slated for a late 2008 release.

And Ms. Meyer is hoping that Midnight Sun, the retelling of Twilight from Edward's perspective, gets published. (She posted the first chapter on her website and right now, I think she's up to chapter 13 or something.) And if her publishers don't want it published, she said she'd find a way to get it out to us so she'll probably post it on her website. If it DOES get published, I'd say probably 2009 is the earliest we can expect it.

After the fourth book, who knows. But I'm sure due to the series' popularity, we can expect more.

So, how many times have you girls (AND GUYS!!!!!!) read the books?

When I first read Twilight last year, I would read it and then as soon as I finished the last page I just started from the beginning over and over again. I've probably read Twilight 20 times.

With New Moon I wasn't really as keen as rereading it and rereading it because well, it's pretty depressing. I read it over again with Twilight a few times, maybe five. But now whenever I read it I skip from when Edward leaves to when Alice comes back. tongue.gif

Since I only bought the books on Sunday, I've only read them each once so far. But I did start to reread Twilight and got to like, the fifth chapter before I stopped and picked up a different book.

But that hasn't stopped me from randomly rereading my favorite parts.

For Ms. Meyer, Henry Cavill is the closest to her picture of Edward. But we're all entitled to our own opinions. :) And if the movie were to be made, she wouldn't have a say in who will be playing who.

Welcome. :)

Less than a month until the special edition of New Moon with the first chapter of Eclipse! I can't wait for it.

I don't know if I'm more excited for Deathly Hallows or Eclipse. I think DH just a little (and I mean VERY little) bit more because it's the end of a series I've been reading for 7 years. But Eclipse means more EDWARD CULLEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most of the people on my LJ flist have started reading Twilight because of all the fangirls (myself included) squeeing over Edward. LOL.

You guys have me totally curious about this series now.

If any of you have read the Vampire Chronicles (Anne Rice), would have any comparison(s)? I've found that Anne Rice tends to linger too often on ambience and would have rather her focus more on characterizations.

Twilight and New Moon are in the YA section and they're there for a reason. Some parts are just really corny and sappy and make you want to pull your hair out. But I think it's worth a read. If only for Edward Cullen. <3

Anne Rice's novels are for much, much more mature readers and are usually for more 'hardcore' vampire fans.

Twilight is good for all readers because it does not hold as much vampire culture and tradition as Anne Rice's books. Twilight is more of a romance novel.

I enjoy both series. I think Anne Rice is much more worth re-reading than Twilight, though. :)
And I still adore Edward Cullen, the most wonderful vamp boy.

Oh ok. So I'm getting the impression that both series are good, but Twilight could be considered more or less, a lower calorie vampire series.

I ask, in part, because I've been reading through this thread, looked on the net at some descriptions and got so incredibly bored (and irriated) with "Eragon" (my brother bought it for me for Christmas) that I'm REALLY needing something fun to read.

That is, until Harry Potter arrives. wink.gif

Holy cow I want to join this!
This may sound weird, but for some reason after I read Twilight and New Moon I feel a little depressed.
Mainly because the books are WAY TOO good, if you ask me. So when they're over and done with I feel a little empty inside. :D
*coughs*ahem. . . but moving on:

Age: 18

Hobbies: reading, writing, drawing.

Contact: check the siggy.

Favorite character BESIDES Edward: I'd say Bella, because she has a stubborn side to her, which is quite fun to read about.

Why you like Edward: what's there NOT to like? I like the fact that he can be so powerful and yet be so unsure of himself at times, which makes him seem almost like a little kid.

Yeah, it does seem kind of crazy since I sort of grew up with the HP books too. I guess it's just I haven't re-read the more recent books in a while... once I do I'll probably be all re-excited for the 7th book.

Did you read the 1st chapter of Edward's version of Twilight? :) It's gooooood.

So I finally got my hands on Twilight and New Moon (special edition throb.gif), and yes, they are amazing. I finished all of Twilight on Sunday and I'm a few chapters into New Moon.

Now I can say that, like Alysa, my favorite character aside from Edward is Alice. She's just so cool and I can imagine the graceful way she moves.
Needless to say, Edward is awesome. laugh.gif Bella's klutziness is also very endearing.

Gaspard Ulliel NEEDS to play Edward in the movie. Seriously. He's so much prettier than Henry Cavill and he's even got that crooked smile!

I can't believe what Bella has to go through at the beginning of New Moon... "It will be as if I never existed." =/

Wo0yaPo0ya: You got the special edition, too? It wasn't supposed to come out until the 9th of May. But including you, I know two other people who have gotten it when they ordered it. Weird.

And welcome to the two new members. :)

I'm anxious for Eclipse but I can't say I'm more excited for that than Deathly Hallows just because DH is the ending to a series I've read for 7 years.

Gaspard Ulliel NEEDS to play Edward in the movie. Seriously. He's so much prettier than Henry Cavill and he's even got that crooked smile!

I can't believe what Bella has to go through at the beginning of New Moon... "It will be as if I never existed." =/
^I was in total shock when I read that part of New Moon... cry.gif
Then I proceeded to speed-read the next 300 or so pages until their reunion... hehe. I'm going to re-read it again, though, hopefully at a more patient rate the next time.

And yes... Gaspard Ulliel's looks, at the very least, fit Edward SO well. I cannot imagine any other guy playing Edward... and though I don't know if Gaspard Ulliel can act... the crooked smile does it for me!

Yeah, I couldn't believe that part either. But I love Jake for how he helps Bella through it. I just hate that he and Bella can't be friends because the Cullens come back. He and Bella get along so well. :(

I've never seen Gaspard act either, and my main concern is if he can speak English. He's French and I don't know if he's played any English-speaking roles. Clearly he can't play Edward if he can't speak English or has a heavy accent... pinch.gif

Yeah, I was very pleasantly surprised when I saw the special editions of New Moon at Barnes and Noble. Then I snatched it up immediately and went to pay. XD.gif

Gaspard speaks fluent English. And his accent isn't so heavy. And in Hannibal Rising, he speaks English, though with a British accent, I think.

YouTube video of Gaspard speaking English. In the video, you can barely hear the accent, only when he enunciates some words differently.

I guess people were right, only Harry Potter and very few other books get the one day release special treatment. Usually books are shipped to the stores and aren't supposed to be put on the shelves until the specific date but sometimes the workers just put it out early. But hey, that's better for us in this case. :) Maybe Eclipse will be put out early as well.

Oh and BTW, Christy... is your edition of New Moon paperback or hardcover?

I think Henry Cavill is decent. :)

But, yes, Gaspard is much better.

^On the contrary, I didn't mind too much about the Jake/Edward situation... how their friendship may be strained. Hahahaha, call me selfish, but I want Edward and ONLY Edward to be with Bella... XD.gif

I do love how Jake was so kind to Bella, though. She really seemed to be coming apart at the seams...

Too lazy to quote everyone, so...

Joy: There's no h in my name, but that's okay. xD Thanks for the video links of him speaking English. I'm praying to God that he'll be chosen to play Edward in the movie...even though I'm agnostic. But that's beside the point. >.>
Oh, and my copy of New Moon is hardcover. The poster they give you is on the inside of the book jacket.

Alysa: Edward and Bella are definitely meant to be together. I admit I was kind of hoping for a JakexBella pairing for the short while they were best friends, but I knew Edward would come back and be with Bella again. I just really, really wish Jake would see that the Cullens aren't like the rest of the "filthy bloodsuckers" he hates so much.

Agh, I know! How anybody could hate the Cullens- I can't comprehend it. They have the most awesome family ever... kind of makes you want to be a vampire too.

I love how Edward gets semi-mad at Bella for her 'human'-ness, and how Bella is so clumsy and stubborn, at times. It's so cute.

Yeah. It's hard to believe that anyone could be that clumsy, but Bella does it. XD.gif It's also really hard to believe that Bella's still alive after the accidents she's been through. In New Moon, if I'd fallen and gotten glass in my cut, I would've cried so hard while a doctor got the glass pieces out. Seriously.

Whoops, sorry Cristy. :)

Edward, Edward, Edward...

I'm waiting to reread Twilight until my flight to Vegas. I will probably have a cheesy smile on my face the whole flight and the person next to me will think I'm crazy. LOL.

Cristy: Haha, and I thought I was clumsy- until I read about Bella. I cringed when I read the part about glass in her arm- ewww. :/

Joy: I just re-read Twilight for the 2nd time! :) It seems to be one of those books that only gets better the more you read it. I'm in the process of reading New Moon again, and I was so close to tearing up reading the 3rd chapter again... ahahaha.

I'll try to keep this as short as possible:

It starts off with Bella reading a note from Jacob saying that he misses her a lot but it doesn't change anything.

Then Bella and Charlie are in the kitchen and they have a talk where he wants her to balance her life... he doesn't want her to spend all her time with Edward and wants her to hang out with her other friends (namely Jacob). (Remember, Bella has been grounded and she can't leave the house except to go to school and Edward can only come and see her from 7-9:30pm). So he kind of agrees to end her punishment as long as she promises to see her other friends.

Then they talk about her plans for college and she got into University of Alaska Southeast.

Then Edward shows up. Charlie is hostile. They continue their talk about college. Edward also got into University of Alaska Southeast. And Dartmouth. And Harvard. And Syracuse.

Charlie leaves to go into the living room to watch TV... Bella and Edward are still in the kitchen. Edward has brought college applications for her to fill out. And one of them being Dartmouth.

Then Bella tells Edward that they're only going through the motions for Charlie's sake because she won't be in any condition to go to college in the fall. And Edward argues saying that he thought the timing was still undecided and he doesn't want her to lose the human experience of going to college. And Bella says she'll get to that afterwards. Then Edward says they're in no hurry. But Bella says she wants to hurry because she wants to be a monster, too.

Then Edward is reading the newspaper, the headline reading: DEATH TOLL ON THE RISE, POLICE FEAR GANG ACTIVITY. And Edward says it's probably a newly turned vampire on the loose in Seattle. Bella says that won't happen to her, they'll live in Antarctica. Edward snorts and says: "Penguins. Lovely." So then Bella says some remote place in Alaska with grizzlies galore. And Edward says that's better and that the wolves get pretty large, too.

And of course, talk becomes about Jacob. Bella tells Edward she has to see Jacob and try to make things better. But of course, Edward doesn't want her to and no one will be able to protect her when she visits Jacob because they don't want to break the treaty.

Then Edward changes the subject to the book that Bella is currently reading, Wuthering Heights. And he thinks the story would be better if Heathcliff or Catherine had any redeeming qualities.

Talk then goes back to Jacob. Bella tells Edward he doesn't know them but he says he knows them better than she thinks because he was there the last time. And then Edward goes on to say that they thought the line had died out with Jacob's grandfather and that it's Bella's bad luck was strong enough to recover a pack of mutant canines from extinction. And Bella tells Edward that the werewolves came back because the vampires came back. Edward says he'd have to tell that theory to Carlisle.

Bella then tells Edward she really needs to see Jacob because he's in pain and after how he helped her when Edward left. And Edward says he'll never forgive himself for leaving her. Edward asks Bella to make a conscious effort to keep herself safe and she says she'll work on it. Edward says no werewolves, Bella says she won't go along with that... she has to see Jacob. Edward says he'll have to stop her.

The chapter ends with Bella feeling Jacob's note in her pocket and how he seemed to be agreeing with Edward, something that would never happen in reality.

Doesn't change anything. Sorry.

Lol, it's not out yet. Joy was just summarizing the first chapter of Eclipse that's included with the special edition of New Moon. It would be great if it were released so early.

Ahh I see!
I read it through just now. Seems intruiging, I want more, haha. sad.gif

I'm so excited for Eclipse, but at the same time, when I finnish reading THAT I'll be so sad that I'll have to wait a whole 'nother year for the 4th book. Especially because I feel like Stephenie Meyer is going to put the most twisted ending for this upcoming book.

I hope Edward + Bella stay together. No matter who gets killed off, THEY HAFTA STAY TOGETHER.

Oh and Cristy, did you get the poster, too? I'm tempted to buy it just for that.

And yeah, the special edition isn't supposed to be released for another week or so but stores started to sell it last week... so just go and check whatever bookstores near you and maybe you'll find one. :)

I've only read the first chapter because someone on LJ was nice enough to post it.

I've never read a single word about Edward Cullen in print, and I'm sorry for butting in, but my friend said the following today and it was the absolute cutest:

"I love vampire novels! All the characters I want to fall in love, do."

XD.gif I didn't believe her at first, but apparently it's true. whistling.gif

Ah, Gaspard Ulliel.
