So I have a question- go figure eh? How many of you go to-or have seen- a therpist. Therpist, shrink whatever. And if you don't mind saying what for and/or how long... _unsure.gif I just really thought about wondering how many people are in my shoes.

I'll start: Yes, and for depression haha.

kayyyyy go! biggrin.gif

When I was younger yes; for anxiety and family issues. It's very easy to lie to a therapist, which I think was some of the reason I stopped going. They didn't really help... I found it easier to go about things my own way rather than the way a stranger suggested.

Kind of. I see an in school counselor every Friday with a handful of other girls to talk about our weekly dilemmas with our alcoholic parents. This is my second year in it. The counselors influanced me to seek outside help/a therapist but I don't really have enough time outside my 2 jobs and schoolwork, etc. to see a therapist.

I find counselors to be helpful. They're a certain seriousness to the situation with talking to them that lets me let things out more easily.

^ I wish my school actually had a counselor.

I've never seen a therapist, but I'm starting to think I need to for my social anxiety. I've never actually been diagnosed or been to a doctor for it, but I know my parents will never put me on meds. So therapy is probably my only option.

I've been to a psychologist.

Because my mom made me tag along on her weekly visits on her so-called family issues.

I've been going to shrinks for almost two years now. They want to put me into "residential" meaning locking me up in a mental hospital for at least a year.
but if they try to do that, I'll kill them. Give them a f**king reason to lock me up. I'm not insane, they're just stupid.

I saw one briefly when I was about seven, and I've been seeing one since I was 12 until now. (I'm nearly 20)

When I was seven I saw one just because I was a really bad kid. But it was honestly just because I was a lot smarter than the other kids my age and I was frustrated.

When I was in middle school it was because I would have violent outbursts and just go into a rage.

In high school I became depressed.

And I see one now for depression/drug abuse.

Yep I go, I've been going for half a year now.
I really like my therapist so I don't mind going half the time.

My english teacher made me see my school consoler for writing "depressing poems."

It was really stupid. I just nodded and smiled the whole time and she let me leave.

I probably need one nowadays...

I had one all the time till I was around 15. I stopped going because the new one I had gotten told me I had control issues because I crossed a highway with my friends (I just wanted to get to Walmart, which was on the other side) and that I was angry and wrong because I was atheist, and that was the cause of all my problems. I didn't like her and then we just never got another one cause we didn't have the money. I don't think I even needed one then, but currently, I haven't been doing so hot...

Um. I went to a therapist a few times.
Once when a friend of mine died in a car accident.

Once for a few minutes the day after my dad died. I just couldn't take it, so I got up, I ran out the door, and I just ran. I felt WAY better after running then that therapist could have ever made me feel.

Once at school when I was 6 because my friend got neck eaten by a dog.

I saw my school counselor once every other week because I went to an alternative school, but she and I didn't talk. I hated her so much.
