Okay so a few article s I have read about Vista claim it is supposed to be windows revolutionized for designers. In my opinion it sounds like total bull crap, and from the screenshots I have seen it looks like its just a copy off of mac software. Please give some feedback!

(Crap, I accidentally clicked Null Vote..)

I used to be a big fan of the Mac like one or two months ago.
It's like I suddenly cling on to Windows now. x]

Haha, but I mean. The Mac is really visually-impressive and very quick and full of hard drive space and all, but it's the features and compatibility stuff that holds me back from liking it. However, I look forward to using a Mac in the future for creating and producing music and movies, like with Final Cut Pro. cool.gif

There is no way in hell I would put Vista, the program that microsoft created in turn to eventually rule the world, on my system. No way. And of course they cheated off of Mac. Everyone knows a mac PWNS a PC. Duh. Haven't you seen the commercials?

I would totally have a mac if I could. But first things first.

I love mac computers, but I would never spend the money for them. Also most idiots aren't capable of having a mac and have it working properly, (my science teacher last semester, I had to teacher her how to use a mac, and I don't even own one. And I had to teach her how to use most adobe programs and she didn't even give me a A in her class! sad.gif) I use windows though and I have to admit its never been a problem for me. My dad has vista and I think its neat and all but I'm not impressed as much as I would have liked to been.

I'm a Mac and PC user, as they both have their pro's and con's. If you're working in a visually intensive environment, then a mac is the better route to take. In both my HS Yearbook and Newspaper programs, Mac's were used because they're superior. The way they handle in the Adobe Creative Suite is miraculous. However, though some people are skeptical about Vista, I for one am very pleased with the way it turned out. Yeah it may seem like a rip-off of Mac, but I don't really see that as a bad thing. They were obviously privy to the area's they needed to improve in, and did so. Now with Vista, they've cleaned up a lot of the flaws that were present before. Sure, it's still fairly new so there are bound to be bugs and software compatibility issues, but that'll be resolved in time. I'm running Vista Home Premium right now and I'm happy with it. It's like I'm on my Mac. So honestly, I have no complaints.

My family runs on mac. I absolutely hate them, but only because a lot of things I like don't run on them, or there aren't updates. Therefore, I switched to a PC.

I love it, except for the fact that now I can get viruses, etc.

About Windows Vista.
My friends brother works at best buy, and you have no idea how many people returned the CD
with complaints about the installation screwing up there computers, etc.

I have Windows Vista installed. I have to say, it pretty much owns at the running of Photoshop CS3 and other programs. As for Macintosh, I will buy one when they actually start trying to sell them without insulting a company that could buy them out within two days.

So...do you hate how Microsoft puts down Linux? Do you hate how Microsoft actively spreads misinformation and outright lies about Linux (and even Mac OS X, for that matter)?

If so...why aren't you using Linux?
If not then...why the double standard?

I like windows. I hate MACs for some reason, probably because my school uses it on some classes.

Besides, Windows can practically handle any installation stuff unlike Macs/Vistas (Have to wait til they actually program it for that specific computer, Mac or Vista [espicially] )

Yeah it does look like Vista trying to look like Mac though. lol.

My faculty entitles myself and others under this particular faculty to gain a FREE COPY of Windows Vista. I have been hesitating to upgrade from Windows' XP (which my computers' been running on for awhile).

The reason why I am hesitating is.. cause there's some softwares that will not be compatable to work on the Vista (So I have heard _unsure.gif)

Can anyone let me know if is safe to upgrade to Vista and have other softwares run properly with it?

I am thinking of reformatting my computer this summer after I get back from the States.. so I can just upgrade it to Vista instead.. plus I am going to upgrade my ram to about a 1 gig would that be enough?

Let me know,

Thanks _smile.gif

i've had windows all my life, and it gave me crap every single day. i hated it and still do, but i have a Mac now. it makes me happy. as for photoshop itself, it runs about the same on both OSs. still, windows gets bad ad wear and viruses even running firefox and AVG, so i'd rather not spend hours formatting every month to keep my programs running how they should. but if windows is good to you, you don't mind annoying virus protection, and you enjoy gaming on the side, just by a pc with lots of RAM. i just like the way the mac OS is set up. it's simple. i'll never own a PC again, even though i can make them do what i want most of the time.

yeah, the mac commercials stink. they could easily come up with something way better and more effective. still, it is fun to make fun of PCs. tease.gif

i dont see how you guys are saying vista is a ripoff of macosx. they look nothing alike. they perform nothing alike. the only way i can see it would be like a mac is because it's theme is a lot smoother than previous versions of windows.

anyways, sure windows has it's downfalls; viruses, not as designer friendly, and you need ram ram ram.

but if you're safe and dont download crap and dont go to websites that you're not supposed to ;] then you dont have to worry about any of that crap.

thats the main reason why a mac doesnt have as many viruses. theres not as many programs for it that people want to pirate. so in turn people wont be searching as much for pirated software on a mac. which inturn makes hackers not even want to bother with a mac.

i personally havent bought any of the software thats on my computer. and im still virus free.

so i choose windows over a mac any day. :]

Why does everybody whine about Mac "insulting" Windows? You guys who use Windows (like myself) should know that Windows blows hard. I've used Windows XP on a crap machine, Vista on a great machine, and OS X on a decent machine, and there's no doubt in my mind that OS X was the best hands down. Vista is full of AIDS.

I have vista and I feel like Microsoft is copying off every competetor they had or have. It comes with alot of neat fonts as a plus, but designer heaven? I don't know about that.

It's a mixture between Mac and Linux with Beryl.

Except MAC and Linux is just better... I will never go back to windows. I'll never have to worry about pop ups, viruses, adware, trojans, spyware, hacking, cracking etc...

Linux > Microcrap windows.

P.S. I got my girl and my friend's older brother to get rid of windows vista and install Ubuntu Linux with Cross office and Cedega for Window PC games, and Window's programs to run on Linux :)

Unless you are in school, they then give copies away. I have a BOX of Vista Business CDs and keys I got at the IT department of a local college for free. All are legal; Microsoft just GIVES them thousands of copies so their students can upgrade to keep their network secure.

Mac OSX and Apple PC's are a total RIP OFF! iBooks are overpriced, iMacs are overpriced, and the G5 is ridiculously overpriced.

As always, Windows for Home Use and Business Desktop use. CentOS for server use.

Window is more compatible with programs then Mac is , Mac still hasnt grown in that area , their expensive but theyre supposed to be worth it for graphic designers and movie producers and such. I dont want to switch mainly because Im a female gamer ( rock on. ) and there arent that many games compatible on Mac , plus I grew up on Windows.

It really depends. If you want something visually appealing, go for a Mac, if you want something that can do more, go for a PC.

If you want a perfect computer, get Unix.
