PhotoShop...Fade Image to White?

Okay so I have a picture that I would like to fade to white, however, I would like the fade to extend past where the picture actually is. For example if I have a pic aligned to the right, I would like the picture to begin the fade at the far right of the pic and have the fade almost "extend" the picture colors all the way to the left edge of my canvas. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Try this to stetch out the picture colors and then apply this to get the image to fade. I'm not sure if that's what you actually want, though.
