This is a kinda of three part debate
1. Should people be forced to be organ donors 2. In order for you to recieve an organ you must be a organ donor 3. Should family member be allowed to contest the deceased of being an organ donor(even if the person chose to be a organ donor, after the person dies the family does not want to donate their organs) |

1) Not forced, but they get papers to sign and whatever in the mail to agree whether or not theyre donating organs.
2) I don't get it. 3) I also don't get it. |

Always no to 1, no with reservations to 2 and 3.
1: The government doesn't own your organs. You should be allowed to do whatever you want with them, and provide for them in your will. 2: The government doesn't own the hospitals. Each hospital or hospital chain should be free to set its own policies towards donors. 3: Your family doesn't own your organs. Your will should be followed to the letter in case of post-mortem donations. |

1. Well, everyone's saying, "No," to this, so I'll say, "Yes, why not?" Okya, think about it. Once you're dead, there's no use of it to you. Instead of being selfish, you could save someone's life. Think about it. You're thinking, "Ew, gross! I want my organs!" now, but you won't miss them when you're dead. Geez. It's kind of selfish thinking like that, don't you think?
2. Well, I think everyone should be an organ donor, so yes, this would occur. 3. If everyone were organ donors, this problem wouldn't occur. Well, no they wouldn't be able to interfere. |

Kathleen: I don't NEED a lot of things. But I still have teh right to have them. If I make $1,000,000,000, I have the right to give it all to my will-appointed heir. It is grave-robbing for the government to take them.
If you say that organ donation should be mandatory, what you're basically saying is that people belong to the government. Using that logic as precedent, the government could justify basically anything. |

I'm not saying people belong to the government...their unneeded organs should belong to people who need them to live.

No, your organs belong to yourself.
Other people don't have a RIGHT to your organs. If you say that they do is basically saying that they own you... |

Um...I'm saying this only because there are people that need those organs more than you do. To think if you were in that position, of a needed organ, and some selfish dude much like yourself refuses to give up his organ...WHEN HE DOESN'T NEED IT! That just...ugh.

Some people mgiht need my money more than I do, that doesn't mean they have a right to have it.
Your right to have something exists independent of "needing" it. |

QUOTE no, most ppl that need the organs cant donate them... Oh well, yes, I understand this. Of course I'm not going to push to have people donate unhealthy organs or something. QUOTE Some people mgiht need my money more than I do, that doesn't mean they have a right to have it. Yes, but you can always earn money in different ways. You can't "earn" an organ you need. Besides, those people are still living. Yes, money can be the determining factor in life sometimes, but in the end, if you're in debt or whatnot, you'll still be living...perhaps under a bridge somewhere, but you get the point. Needing organs is a whole different thing. You can't compare it to needing money as well. |

Somebody might NEED food to survive, and I have extra food, but it's still my food. I don't HAVE to give it to them... that would make me their slave...

But when you are dead yo uare gone, you don't need the organs. When you die that is it,no more life on earth in America, therefore you have no right to keep something you won't be using

i think it's a personal decision. Personally, i'm not an organ donor because of my beliefs (or superstition maybe?). You know... it's like, after I die, I don't want a part of me going into someone else. idk dudes i just like my organs in my body, even if i'm dead

But if you have no way of getting food, I STILL don't have to give you food. It's the same deal. You can still get organ from other places, and even if you can't, it doesn't give you the right to rob people's tombs. |

In some places, there isn't enough food. There is still starvation, and it's undeniable. A starving kid in Bangladesh might not be able to GET food, btu that doesn't mean we should have to give him ours.

But still, it proves that just because someone else needs something to survive doesn't mean he has a right to something YOU have.

No, I didn't give up. Secondly, that person who has the food is still alive. There's a difference.

After that person dies, he STILL has teh right to choose where the food goes, probably to his family. He doesn't relinquish it to "whoever needs it".
