frankly, one of the only reasons i will not be buying vista is because of its disgusting glossy look (let alone all the flaws it WILL have... forever)

im getting SICK of seeing this:

and there are a lot more examples. a lot of people probably think it's NEAT or TECHY and awesome, but come on...

its been a 'trend' for too long, no? and everyone thinks that if you slap a white gradient on the top of any image, it's glossy and sleek and awesome

let me just tell you

WRONG... those are just my feelings... i had to vent

I agree in a way. Sometimes "glossy" type things look ok, but I think after a while I'd get annoyed of seeing the same thing. (But I'm a mac kid so no vista for Toya).

Regarding the "glossy" look in general. I still feel its ok because I haven't really been seeing much of it. But it can easily be overused and overdone. I don't think that it automatically makes things look "neat". Especially if you just slap it onto something. Someone would have to be able to actually "pull it off".

i agree... i don't bump across tech images... so i hardly see it... but i agree that it can be overdone and shouldn't be used in everything tech related

I completely agree!

It's soo lame how every single program now a day is gloosy. I hated the new aim because of this reason too!. Why does everything have to be soo blinding?

It's like microsoft thought the glossy effect would trick buyers into believing that it's really new or something, geez >=/

Sooo, yeah idk. If I saw it often, it probably would annoy me. but since I dont see it a lot, I dont really care. _unsure.gif

Managing to have a full-out amazing glossy/tech/sleek layout, or anything for that matter, seems a bit hard to pull off.

yea i love that glossy look too. It makes everything look prettier hahah. but it is overused but its not that bad is it? its not really a major design its something that is a finish.

like i.e. you have a peice of wood then you paint a design over it. then you put a finish on it so that it gives a prettier look and protects it. the glossy finish is the same as the glassy gloss look. lol i hope i tried to explain myself.

I like the glossy effect; it looks tons more clean and simple than say, glitter or simple solid colored blocks.
