What kind of current trends in graphics do you follow? Can you also list examples and why do you follow them? happy.gif I want to see some, I guess I never really realized there were "trends". Perhaps I would want to try some out too happy.gif

Yay for the new Forum too happy.gif

Yay for getting this forum going!

I'm sure you've seen the new abstract-y designs everywhere, as well as the use of swirly designs. I could give a ton of examples but that would mean choosing a handful and that would be too difficult.

I admit, I've tried to get into it. But I really enjoy seeing them on deviantART. They look great!

EDIT\\

LOL, Holly. XD.gif We are awesome. cool.gif

Oh man, I went to your DA the other day Mona. I love some of the stuff. And I noticed that you really do a lot of abstract stuff. Although your the only person I have seen do that type of thing and I find it to be really neat and very original because your not using other peoples stuff you making your own shapes and stuff, at least I think thats what you do.

I don't really follow trends, because if there are trends I'm usually unaware of them. Sometimes I'll see a certain style and see if I can mimick it.

Holly, there are way too many, but I'll try to give you examples.

If I try to mimic something, it never works out. I end up making something completely different. :x

Oh, and another I've seen is taking regular photos (stock perhaps), manipulating them, and adding in digital design elements.

Very creative, in my opinion. (Haven't tried though.)

I love bold bright colored artwork. The first time I fell in love with this style was when I started playing Jet Set Radio for th dreamcast way back in 2001... *sigh* Graffiti love at first site... :]

^Josh, I remember that game. I use to sit back and watch people play it all the time. I use to love watching my dad play it and I use to always say something about the colors. Also it came out on my birthday in Japan, so I mean theres some kudo points to it.

I've never thought of designing my artwork as fallowing "trends", i just do random stuff, sometimes it comes out bad, sometimes it comes out good.

Mimicking/following trends fails for me though they do inspire. Personally, if I set out to copy, I always end up spinning off into something simliar but different so it's a creative process that works. Sometimes, LOL

Usually I just take one of my photos and play around with the colorization. I like simple and clean.

Ohmygosh, yes, ink splats! They're everywhere and it's getting old. Sometimes, if used well, it looks good.

Remember when dutch swirls and Scriptina were in? WOW, that was a common trend.

I always wanted to do the whole collage thing, but I guess I'm just not good with it. -shrugs-

I never liked the swirl brushes, I just found them to be really tacky >_<

I'm getting tired of the collage movement. I've seen many many great collages that look spectacular and actually have some sort of theme but I've also been seeing many others where it just seems to be random images and brushes splattered across. Some just can't pull it off. I shouldn't even be saying this since I haven't even tried collages and we all start off somewhere but I see them everywhere. :x
