Respect. Everybody wants it. Everybody thinks they deserve it. However, we all know that's not necessarily the case. What warrants respect here? Yes, this is a duplicate thread, but it's two years later and it's a completely different audience. What is it about certain members on createBlog that merits your respect? Their join date? Their post count? Their popularity? The quality of their posts? How they regard (or disregard) the rules? Is it because you're intimidated by or envious of them?
I've already posted my thoughts on this before and would like to see what other people say before I put them up again (because I want to read original opinions rather than "yeah, I agree," and the like). |

I guess its by the quality on how they post. If I tend to agree with their post and opinions then they will earn my respect with no doubt. Popularity has no factor, for all I know they can be a totally a-hole.

- Creativity (whether it pertain to some sort of art form here or thought, opinion, etc.)
- Quality of posts (enjoyable to read/think about) - Positive member of the CreateBlog community (following rules, helping others, etc.) - Open-mindedness (is that even a word? ![]() Those would be my standards for gaining my respect here. ![]() |

The quality of their posts really matters to me. I have respect for most people here, and I just feel like if they can actually take the time to say something thats not completely pointless, they deserve it.
I agree with that. |

The quality of their posts is what usually gets my respect. Whether it is a meaningful or witty post.
To me, following the rules doesn't really matter to me much. That doesn't mean I admire people who posts advertisments and pointless duplicated threads. |

On createBlog, I'd say people earn my respect for them by being polite and having good, valuable posts.

My opinion hasn't changed much since joining as far as what I respect, what I don't respect and what I have to force myself to look at/read.
I think to say that reading interesting and thought provoking posts is what I respect most is a little unfair and judging. What's thought provoking to one might seem simple and boring to another. For me, it's all about heart. You don't have to respond or create posts that will change the world or be high on that intellectual ladder some cling so desperately to. Being comfortable enough to just chat about how you feel, what you like... those are wonderful, simple little things I notice about people. Prime examples of that are Suzzette and Kaycee. It's also nice to delve a bit deeper without being phony. The new topics Anna created are fine examples of this. I also tend to shy away from yes m'am no m'am people/posters. Honestly, there are times you have to deal/converse with them. But as in real life, I don't care for them at all. The Beatles said it best: Although your mind's opaque Try thinking more if just for your own sake <snipped> Do what you want to do And go where you're going to Think for yourself 'Cause I won't be there with you Don't post just to agree with something or someone. How about saying why you've come to one conclusion or another. Also, just because ten people above said something like, "ROCK ON I TOTALLY AGREE OMG YOU'RE SO RIGHT ILU YOU'RE AMAZING AND THE SMARTEST PERSON LIKE OVER OMG !!!ONEONE!!11" doesn't mean you should, by default, think the same way. Don't be afraid to speak your own damn mind. *Those* are the posters I migrate to and respect. That's all for now until we get some more conversation going here. ![]() |

Generally speaking, I tend to appreciate people being straight forward with their intentions and opinions, whatever those may be, over most of everything else. If anything, because it makes it easier to share a (virtual) meeting place when you don't have to wonder about the real reasons behind people's actions.
Other than that, the level of respect I concede is also determined by simple things such as not sharing X herd's mentality, not being abusive, and being excellent to each other. =P |

I respect people if they are kind and helpful it doesn't really matter their post count as long as what they are doing is helpful and/or interesting

I respect those whose posts I enjoy reading, even if I may not get along perfectly well with the poster. As well, even if someone always posts quality posts, it doesn't mean I should respect him/her. If he/she can make me enjoy reading his/her posts, then great. Those who are also friendly and respectful of others. There are so many ways in which you can positively affect others around you; being an ass isn't one of them.

I respect those who's posts are original, and have good quality/substance to it- it may be long, but lack substance. I don't respect those who post just to post "yea me too." just for the heck of posting. I respect those who are respectful, nice, and open minded, not those who try to start an arguement or bashing and try to become defensive for thier "friend" when it's just making the arguement even bigger. Post count doesn't really mattter to me, it really depends on what they are saying. I also don't respect those who do not search and create duplicate topics, and post up ads (but those are usually ad bots so what are you going to do).

I don't care if it's pretentious; I respect people who post intelligently. I just simply can't bring myself to enjoy the presence of someone who is genuinely uninterested in learning.
I also appreciate honesty, but, to clarify, not the type of honesty that people on this forum have come to commonly refer to as "bluntness". There's quite a large difference between being blunt and going out of your way to be a hard-ass. However, when people really are honest and don't sugarcoat everything, it's much more appreciated than just going around saying everything is la-dee-da wonderful and everyone's great. I also respect people that are easygoing and somewhat carefree. People on the forum tend to blow things out of proportion and freak out over the littlest things just so they can look opinionated and "good" when it really makes them look ridiculous. It's unnecessary. |

I respect those who talk their mind. People agreeing with other people without any reasons why they are agreeing, making it seem like they just want to agree with that person because that person is popular or whatever.
I also respect those who talk/act mature. |

If they are respectful, nice, and have good posts. Sometimes it is hard to have original posts, but I do have respect for people who contribute alot as far as topics are concerned and if they are original. I don't like it when people post dumb replies like "Yeah, I agree with other people said", I mean, add more to it. Also, I tend to gravitate towards people who type right (i.e. not people like "so ii totally zaiid ii waz fed up wiit wat waz goiin on")

I'm completely new to cB, but I never even realized about the post counts or anything like that because it never really mattered to me. I respect everyone until they have done something to make me doubt of their worth (if you know what I mean).
I respect those who are kind, open-minded, honest (without being an ass), respectful to me, and are happy people (not the giddy happy-go-lucky-kind. Just plain happy and not emo). Those kind of people that have proven their worth and are not so mean or like to put down people (like I have already experienced here as of late) have that extra brownie point to be admired and respected. I also like people who are REAL. Fake people just drive me away because its like their insulting my intelligence. Just my two cents of the matter. |

I'll keep this short and sweet.
I pretty much agree with Kaycee, although when I first joined createblog I never knew there was a community center. I stayed in myspace help and helped the most people I could. Avatars I never really found anyones amazing or their skill to tell someone what to do in myspace help so nothing really impressed me or made me gain respect for anyone. I really liked Toya though, at first I kind of disliked her because I would post and apparently it would take me a half a second longer than her to type it all out so it would have the same time stamp and my post would be after hers. I guess once I started going out of myspace help, I think what gained most of my respect was the knowledge some people had. If their post were creative and had meaning towards them then they would always stick out to me and I would take the time to read their other posts. |

I respect the ones who are nice and generally stay optimistic. I think it is ridiculous how so many people go off on these little rants and are so ignorant at the same time.
Anyone who can say what they want, without caring what others think, in a fairly informal intelligent manner has my respect. Sadly, that's lacking. I can really only think of maybe two people. But, if your here just to have fun and make cB a better place, then you also have my respect. I love nonchalant people. Too much seriousness can give you a heart attack! ![]() |

Popularity has no factor, for all I know they can be a totally a-hole. I disagree. Haha. I post all the time with which I think are quality posts. I try not to make it stupid and random. I'll post questions that actually mean something this day and age....but yet, no one posts. Well, for the most part. I've been here since May last year and I fail to see anyone who actually will post on my threads. So, I really think that popularity has alot to do with it. |

I usually admire Cb people for their avatars/signatures and posts (funny, thoughtful, or creative, etc.). Especially when their posts are always significantly long, or if they bring more to a topic, something to think about. And of course, if they spell really well.

It's hard for me to respect someone for their posts on a forum because I have higher expectations for gaining respect than just by judging some posts. However, I respect people that write well. There's a difference between people that type properly and use sophisticated words from people that know how to tell stories and express their feelings through the most simple and straightforward way. If they could capture attention whether you agree with them or not, then I feel that I should respect them.

I like the cB members that will be kind to me as well as others and not diss them just because they want to or whatever their reason. I like cB members that post stuff that's reasonable, that i can relate to, or that i feel is a good idea. I don't like cb members that post just for the sake of post counts, which is nothing for all i care (although i do check them out). I don't like members that post something they know isn't going to answer the question or is just something that could be left unsaid.

i like laid back folk. im not gonna be like "whoa look at that guy, isnt he swell" just because he's a good debater. that just means that the person is willing to type more than the next, that doesnt necessarily mean they are capable of more.
and if by quality of posts you mean long as hell, in-depth posts all the time, i can care less about those. i respect someone that can understand the principle of not taking things too seriously and post simple yet enjoyable things to read. thats it. |
