I am not sure if this is the right place to post this topic...

Anyway, I think the "Staff Member of the Month" and "Member of the Month" threads at the Lounge are mostly spam.

Isn't that thread supposed to be nominatons and suggestions?

The majority of the posts in these threads are "Congrats _______! You really deserve it."
As I was skimming through replies in these threads, only like 4 or 5 replies are nominations, the other 30 something replies are those "Congrats!" spams or unnecessary arguments.

If members want to congratulate the winners, they could just simply do it through PM or ALONG WITH THEIR NOMINATIONS.

I know the staff votes out FROM THE NOMINATIONS, which the staff votes from the one or two people that got nominated (because there are only 4-5 people nominated, and usually the same people are being nominated, so the nominated members have like a 50% chance of winning).

I don't mean that they don't deserve the SMoTM or MoTM, but could the amount of spam in these threads be reduced and add more nominations in?

Just stating my own opinion. _unsure.gif

What's wrong with congratulatory messages? It's relevant to the fact that they won M(S)OTM, so, why not post?

Well, I personally don't see a problem with Congradulating the winner in the thread. ermm.gif
And also, I just read through the first page of SMOTM and read 10 nominations/suggestions, only on the first page... Sooooooooo, yeah.

We staff usually end up with a handful or more of people to choose from, not 2-3.
(I hope my post doesn't sound rude, or like I have an attitude, cause I don't. And I'm not trying to come off that way at all ^-^)

The arguements I could definitely do without. heh.

There is my 2 cents. _smile.gif

I agree with Kristina.

I think its fine for people to post, congratulating the winner. I mean I suppose I could see how it could be annoying but I think its fine?

I know this sounds odd, but who skims through if they're voting? I don't think it's a big problem, they just don't count the post as a vote. So if congratulating someone doesn't interfer with the votes I don't think it's a big deal.

I guess I'll add my 2 cents.

Honestly, I agree with all the people above. I don't think there is absolutely nothing wrong with congratulating the winner. What's so bad about that? mellow.gif It's easier to just congratulate them, and then when you're ready, you can just post your nominations. I doubt people are doing this to pump up there posts. What do you think is so wrong about it? Maybe we're not looking at this through your perspective.

Why the smiley? Stating opinions is what this forum's for, and you backed up your opinion well. (:

However, I disagree, mostly because I enjoy congrulating them in that thread; it's just how it's been and how it probably will be for as long as it exists. Having congratulations there doesn't, imo, discourage people from nominating others. And there are usually more than just two nominations, there's usually at least three.
