In P.E., there's a unit for weight lifting.

We're all freshmen [[14-16 years old]] and some of the others are like...football plays and bench pressing 500 pounds!

I can't even lift the bar up with weights. xDD It was a good workout for me, though.

What do you guys think about weight lifting?

Weight training is really good for you to build up muscle. Typically people should weight train around 3 times a week. No more than 3 days in a row, I believe. On the 4th day, if you really want to work out more, do cardio. (As in 30 minutes on a treadmill, recumbent bike, elliptical, etc). You can also do core exercises and fit it into your weight training routine, which is very efficient. But when you weight train you are tearing your muscles so you have to depend on your down time to let your muscles heal and repair themselves.

If you really are aiming to lose weight though, and you notice you lose all this weight then gain some back, don't be discouraged. You can lose a lot of weight within the first few weeks of weight training and then you will gain a lot of muscle back -- which is really good. You want muscle. Eventually you will plateau and that's when you know you need to step up your routine a bit. Sorry if this is conflicting information to what others believe, I work at a health and fitness gym for women.

haha I'm doing weight lifting too... It's so embarassing. I can hardly lift the BAR up rolleyes.gif And the guys are like 'You can do ittt!'

We're sophomores, and my teacher said that we're not old enough to actually build up muscles, at least with the amount that we're doing. So you don't have to worry about getting bulky.

I have to weight lift in my class as well. I personally wouldn't choose to. I fear I might stop growing. I can only lift 55 though.

I just do it to look good naked. ewww. lol jk I'm butt ugly. I work at a company and lift boxes everyday so I figure I join a gym to make work even easier. I always liked working out since my days in tai kwon do and wrestling. But it's like I feel more pumped up energywise but not necessarily stronger. People been hinting and saying I gotten bigger but I hope I'm not slower because I want to get back into wrestling. (I just keep on talking huh?)

Never done squats but I'm looking for advice on how to get really cut shoulders.

Don't lift something too heavy or you might strain and pull something.

I'm a huge fan though of weight-lifting.
