it isn't real. the point of the ad was to show how teenagers can be easily influenced to do anything - ANYTHING - just because everyone else was doing it. it's a metaphor for all the other drugs/abuses/bad things out there.

besides, no one could get high from leeches. leeches don't release any chemical that could induce euphoria/high.

it was intended to scare kids and show them how easily they get influenced to do stupid stuff, like drugs. they wanted to show: sticking leeches on yourself just cause everyone else is doing it is just as stupid as doing pot/drinking/shooting up just cause everyone else is doing it.

however... after the commerical aired, some really stupid people thought it was real and actually started doing it. you can't get high from leeches - doctors use it to treat poor blood circulation in broken vessels.

if you don't remove a leech properly, it "throw up" into the wound or leave behind some parts and infect it.

sometimes, people's stupidity astound me. it even says at the end of the commerical, "what could you be convinced to do?" and then the words turn into pot.

I saw that while waiting for Yahoo to load the music video. It's not true. It's just their clever way of advertisement and how many other people had already sad, it just a metaphor.

Before I found leeches to be ugly and gross, but one specific picture in my Bio AP book makes it look really cute.

Other pictures just gross me out. That one picture makes it look like the leech is kissing the thumb. When I see it, I go, "Aww!"

But the most disgusting part was when they showed it in the kid's mouth. Come on, that's hard to look at, how much harder can it be to actually do?
