Ok, well, of course I can breathe, but I've had problems breathing since Monday. I really don't know why, and it's scaring the crap outta me. pinch.gif

But it's only when I'm thinking of something serious or when my heart starts beating really fast or when I'm nervous and scared.

I've been getting less than 5 hours a day since Sunday because of homework. And I've been a little stressed and slightly depressed lately.

Could it be anxiety or whatever? And if you think it is or if you know what it is, how do I stop this?

Bronchitis?

I've had that about 15 times and it usually starts off as not being able to breathe normally. (In my case I couldn't breathe at all, not even through my mouth)

When you breathe does it sound hoarse or does it seem like you're gasping? I mean it could just be that your nose is slightly clogged.

It might have to go with a disorder. I found this link that could help you...this fits in the most with your description: http://www.nimh.nih.gov/healthinformation/gadmenu.cfm Are you experiencing any of the symptoms?

Same thing is going on with me. Only I've been fainting too. You can go to your doctor and get checked out... but if you don't have any medical problems backing it up -- then it could just be psychological problems causing "an underlying meaning to your attacks" or so said my doctor on monday. He suggested collecting thoughts in a journal. It actually works and is really relaxing. It sounds stupid.. but it is kind of helpful. Just something to think about.

Hahaha, don't worry. I'm better now. _smile.gif

Yeah, it was probably psychological because I was too stressed last week.
Relaxing, listening to music, and spending more time with friends did the trick. thumbsup.gif

It's a little better now. I still have trouble breathing at times, but it should be better by the end of mid-winter break. Thanks guys! biggrin.gif

The same exact thing used to happen to me when I was younger.. I'd be stressed out and then would start to think that I couldn't breathe but really I could, just it was hard. When or if this happens to you again, just take deep breathes and it will go away in a couple of minutes. If you still are having issues see your doctor. He/she might have you breath for them and see if you have minimal asthma. If you do, he/she will probably give you an inhaler that's different than someone that has a more serious asthma. You can use this inhaler whenever you have difficulty breathing. In my case, I usually use it when I'm sick with bronchitis or just a cold.

edit: I didn't read that you were better. If you have problems breathing again, I guess you can take my advice. Glad your feeling better!

Ahah! I can tell you all what it is! ANXIETY!! believe me I know I have it and if you dont believe me check the symtoms and I bet you can relate to them!! what your having is " Anxiety attacks" they come and go especially when your stressing out! you cannot die from them its all in your head . If you keep thinking to youself I feel like I Cant breathe then thats how you'll feel when having anxiety attacks you got to keep your self busy by colouring / reading/ doing homework anything to keep your mind off it .I use to get it all the time the feeling of not being able to breathe racing heart feel sweaty but I learnt how to cope with it .
