Spanglish, Why do homies speak spanglish? Options

So my wife used to subscribe to Latina magazine. She canceled the subscription because most of the articles were written in splanglish. She is also hispanic, but her coconut parents refused to teach her spanish. I on the other hand speak Spanish fluently, having been raised by Mexican parents who refused to learn English. So when she told me about the articles I was shocked then disgusted. Why can't our people either speak 1 language at a time --English or Spanish -- either one, it doesn't matter, but not both. Not only does it make the person speaking spanglish sound ignorant in either language, but they make it hard for those that only speak one language to understand.

Maybe they are learning and trying to use the new words in their everyday life, but some word probably slipped their mind and they have to say it in their native language.

I'm not Spanish, but I do speak Chinglish (Chinese and English) at home. Sometimes I say things in Chinese because there are some words that identify certain things that the English language does not. I just say the Chinese word instead of using the roundabout way of saying the same thing in English. Also because I neither went to Chinese school nor had any lessons on Chinese vocabulary because my parents do not wish me to learn it. The words are just some things that I have picked up from my childhood, since I hear the Chinese word over and over again. That is the reason why I can translate Chinese into English, yet not do it the other way around. Also my parents are not that fluent in the English language, so I have to explain somethings in Chinese.

I don't find that speaking a mixture of two languages is ignorant. You cannot learn a language and be fluent in a day. It needs work.

In public though, I only speak English because that is my native language.

Some languages like Spanish, you do not need to say the whole statement in one language or catch every single word because those who speak Spanish very fluently talk very fast. As long as the main words are understood, you can decipher the meaning of the sentence and understand the person.

I think people do that in many languages. I do it at home all the time. I speak Deutchlish. German and English. Hah. I could understand where it would be strange for it to be in a published work though.

Ah, that sounds really weird. I think it would be better to just stick to one language to not get anyone confused or anything. I mean if they know both languages, great for them. But they can speak each one seperately.

First of all i am hispanic.And i also have a subcription to latina magazine.
I speak some french,spanish and english.However i have a difficulty reading and writing in spanish.I have noticed that latina magazine has that spanglish thing going on.And for one thing there is nothing ignorant sounding about it,really only ignorance about it is the thought that it makes it hard for some people to read it,obviously if your f**king wife cant speak the language then obviously she should just stick to english only magazines,dont be bitching about how ignorant a style of writing is.But there is nothing stoping her from actualy learning the spanish language on her own time i mean she is an adult right??



Secondly the bilingual articles are very good for people who actualy are trying to learn spanish.thats how i learned from reading bilingual articles and books and poems actualy i leaned a couple new spanish words like novio and someother ones from reading latina magazine. so i dont know what you exactly are disgusted about.
