Okay so I'm going to a wedding, not the first one I've been to before, but this is the first one I've been to that's a winter wedding. What do you think are the best colors of dresses to wear to a winter wedding? I have a backup dress already its brown with pink poka dots, I didn't intentionally buy that dress for the wedding, just had it and never wore it, but I'm going to another one at the end of this year. Problem is that all the new dresses in stores are all spring dresses like this for example. i like that dress btw. but i don't think its appopriate for a wedding in Febuary- its cold and bright right?

edit: oh and it's at 6 o clock at night. also wanna reccomend some great places? affordable too, under 100 dollars cause i'm on a budget. oh and the first wedding i'm going to is next Saturday (Feb. 17) i know last min i'm always like that pinch.gif oh and it isn't very formal- as in its not even a prist who is going to marry them.

DO NOT GO WITH THE POLKA DOTS
IM SORRY IT SCREAMS HIGHSCHOOL DANCE.

Go with silk fabircs since it's winter.
Light greens, blues, even light oranges.
Very gentle pastle colors will do. Keep it simple.

Is it a day or night wedding/reception?
That will help with picking out the length and the overall dress.

Oh okay haha.
At night you want to go for a longer length.

I suggest a dress like this.
Knee length. Strapless or halter top.
If you go with strapless, take a matching shrug with you
It looks good and keeps you warmer.

buy a nice soft, form fitting sweater to throw over a dress.

i don't know if it's okay to wear pants. if it is, you can be warmer. get some nice dressy pants and pair it with a dressy top.

p.s., don't wear white, hehe.

edit: ^oh, that is a gorgeous dress. i wanted a strapless bubble dress for prom. where did you get it?

in elle, mandy moore wore a similar dress with a tight long sleeve shirt underneath. it looked really cute and whimiscal. you could try a similar look.

^yea i see what you mean about that. i'm not sure if we are allowed to wear pants, nor did it say anything about attire. but i think it won't that formal (obiously no jeans duh) but its not going to be held at a chruch (the wedding itself) but it'll be at a hotel where the reception is at, and the couple getting married- distant cousin, isn't getting married by a priest. so idk.

^oh I agree, that dress looks great.
But yeah, something that resembles that in style and length.
I would stay away from black and polka dots,
and of course, white as well.

Just get a nice casual dress, sorta fancy, sorta not.

Look at www.delias.com, see if they have what i'm thinking of, hm, lemme try to find something appropriate.

http://store.delias.com/item.do?categoryID...mp;brandFilter=
^for $50. something simple, clean, and pretty.

Wow, that's lovely.

Whatever you do, dont wear white! Most brides will spaz out about that.

Black is usually frowned upon because it's worn at funerals, but I've seen it worn and it seemed fine to me.

I love the David's Bridal dress, and the one that Katie linked is cute, or you could buy a formal dress from Forever 21 and dress it down with a jacket. shrug.gif

I've seen black often, and only time people frowned upon it if it's very revealing or anything like that.

i'd love the david's bridal dress but again.. its 130 bucks that i'm not gonna spend on this wedding which isn't that a big deal for pinch.gif it was a kinda a last min wedding and its not that big so thats why i didn't wanna spend so much. the dress Katie linked is cute, but there's no Delias near my area it closed down. and i can't buy online i don't have the time anymore. Forever 21- i would.. but so far online everything is pretty much spring dresses. _unsure.gif i hopefully will get the david's bridal dress for the other wedding i'm going to at the end of this year. XD.gif just my problem is now. where to get one... that isn't like 90 bucks. i'm probably gonna go shopping on tuesday and look around. if anyone knows any good places lemme know! (i'm going to : macys, forever 21, charlotte russe, nordstrom, h&m, target maybe) thanks for your help guys so far =]

check out all the major department stores. Dillards or Macy's. They always have dresses for all occasions. If you can't find anything there, check out: bodyshop, charlotte russe, and rave (maybe).

for winter color, go with the blue/pastel blue family. Or red, but not pink. You don't want to wear anything bright to a winter wedding.

Check out Ross or Marshalls... you'd be surprised. Its a discount store, but they have a HUGE selection. Alot of their dresses are higher end ones too... I've seen some that were normally over $200.

A few months ago, I found a dress for a friends sweet 16 for only $15... it was normally $120! So you never know what you might find! _smile.gif
