So i was in my food sciences class and we were discussing GMO

Geneticly Modified Organisms

More specifically Genetically Modified Food, for years we have been consuming foods that were genetically engineered 5 years prior to the FDA disclosing that it was on the market.

its become a really big issue in the culinary arts industry as there are strict laws in some countries about what foods can and cannot be processed and prepared.

For example.
In the UK, Genetically altered crops cannot be grown here. However you can import them with an extra tax to them.
In most countries a restaurant or even grocery stores must disclose to the patron/consumer that this dish or product was genetically altered.

So I guess. What Im wondering is what is your standpoint on GMF?

Does it bother you that some the meat you eat may have been pumped with hormones to make them grow larger?

Does it bother you that some of the fruits you eat may have genes from another plant or bacteria that will prevent them from ripening so fast?

Or do you not give a shit? I personally am fine with GMF with fruits and veggies
but genetically altered livestock i don't like the process of how thats produced but i end up eating them because more than 88 percent of livestock is pumped with some sort of enhancement

I think this might have to be moved to debate..but i dont know

Most foods we eat nowadays are GMF anyway. Think how long crop (or animals) would take to grow if they were all organic...Plus you need to take into account immunity to disease, weather, etc.

I don't care, as long as it has no health risks. All the same to me.

As long as I don't get sick from them in the short and long run, it doesn't matter.

But my mom does care and we spend a lot more money on groceries on buying organic. My mom is an organic freak, yet she eats sushi from the restaurants that are pumped with hydrogen I think to make them look firm and red and not brown and soggy.
