Whats the most amount of weight you've ever managed to lose? And, how did you manage to do it?

Hopefully this will help give people who need to lose weight ideas... and save time by finding something that'll actually work! _smile.gif

I'm actually in need of losing more weight... I lost 40 pounds between June - October, but I've been stuck ever since then. I lost mine by replacing all my meals with Lean Cuisines. And with everything else, just watched the calories. I'm eating the exact same way I did before, but nothings happening.

I need to lose 10 - 15 more. pinch.gif

I need to loose about 10 pounds.
And the most I ever lost was 10 pounds without trying to diet.
My ex broke up with me and I got really depressed and stressed and I when I would try to eat I'd get sick.
So I didnt eat and lost about 10.

I managed to loose about 45 pounds.

Between end of January last year til about July or August.
lost another 5 pounds between September and November.

I started exercising, running alot, taebo. Weights, but mostly a lot of cardio and running.
Completely changed my diet. Cut out soda, white bread, pasta, and as much sugar as I could. Started eating more salads, drinking more water, fruits, and veggies.
I've slacked off this past month or two and probably gained 6 pounds of it back. But now i'm back to exercising everyday and eating really strict again, so it'll come off again soon. =)

As for more on my diet. I ate perhaps 1 or 2 egg whites a day or everyother day.
A handful of nuts for the good fat and protein I needed. Lean meats such as Chicken and Salmon. I tried to eat as much organic fruits and vegetables as possible. Really read the back of labels and understood how big a serving size is. Tried to cut out processed foods. Not eat so many crackers, cereals, breads, pastas. . .empty calorie stuff. If I needed to have some, then I'd just be smart. stick to whole grains. . . whole grain rice, whole grain pasta every so often. TRY to skip out on chocolate which is hard. And just ate smarter.

Exercise. . . started running about 1 mile. Now i'm about up to 4 miles. atleast 5 times a week. Did Taebo maybe 3 times a week. Worked out with weights 2-3 times a week. Took Ballet class for a while. I go to the gym now, and just started Spinning and Treading classes, they are fantastic and really push you. But just so you know, I lost all that weight before going to the gym, so you don't need to join one to loose weight. It really centered on all that running I did. Did about 15 minutes of abs a day as well. Just keep moving, lol.

Wow, thats great! thumbsup.gif

So did eating organic veggies and fruits make a big difference, compared to eating the regular stuff? What about dairy products? How many calories do you think you consumed a day?

Oh, and did you cut out meat too? I think most meat is pretty fattening. Is the extra protein really needed?

Eeek, excersize? Ahhh I'm so lazy. But that really gives me the motivation to start running!

I've lost 2 pounds at most. whistling.gif I usually manage it by eating fruits everyday and making sure I don't spend too much time doing nothing.

I lost five pounds or so about a year ago. I did it by cutting back on junk food and eating healthier along with frequent exercise. It took me two weeks, I think.

Weight wise, eating organic fruits probably didn't change much then eating regular fruits. But in Organic fruits they don't spray them with chemicals and toxins. So the fruit is fresh, and your body doesn't get poisoned from it. So that was the reason why I ate organic. And when your body is healthier, it has any easier time mainting metabolism and everything. [Plus the organic fruits taste better, lol].
As for dairy products. . . I stayed away from those. I didn't drink milk or anything, and if I had to have milk or something the I got soy milk [The brand Rice Dream actually tastes really good, and i prefer the taste over regular milk]. You gain a good amount of calories from cheese and stuff. When I first started loosing weight, i would alter my diet in sandwhiches by switching to whole grain bread and without adding any cheese. It helps. Again, the only thing I eat now is egg whites. And only 1 or 2 a day max, as far as "dairy" products go.

Yes, I cut out red meat. It is pretty fattening, and not very healthy for you either. I cut out burgers, coldcuts, pepperoni, all that stuff. It has a lot of fat and is hard on your digestive system. Your body does need protein, but there are other ways to get it. I didn't cut out chicken or fish, and i got my protein from that. Also, eating a handful of nuts a day is helpful, It's got a significant amount of protein. But as for the chicken and fish, it helps if it's organic so there aren't any chemicals or toxins in it, but when you are first starting off, it's okay to eat whatever. However, remember to eat it in small enough portions. Your body does need protein, but there are smarter ways to get it then eating red meat, you know?

and yeah exercise is crazy. but start off slowly, and build up.
even 10-15 minutes a day of running or some sort of cardio is great for you.

Organic fruits and veggies really do taste better?

And the soy milk too? Woah, for some reason you'd think it wouldnt taste all that great... i've never tried it.

Just to compare, when you were dieting, what was your calorie intake? When I lost most of my weight, I was eating anywhere from 500 - 1000 a day... but sometimes less. But I didnt excersize hardly at all... but with excersize, I'm guessing it would be best to have a little more calories?

I've dropped 30 pounds (to about 95 pounds) in 2 weeks for an audition but I hated how I looked then so I gained 20 back. Let's not go into how I lost it.

five pounds. i lost five pounds each for the past two summers.

it wasn't the healthiest way the first summer. i had work and woke up at odd times so i kept missing meals. the odd thing is that people kept telling how great i looked but in the back of my mind i knew i wasn't exactly healthy nor was the weight going to stick.

during the last summer, i was on a dragon boat team and worked also. the physical exertion really toned my muscles and more muscles mean burning more fat. i felt great. the exercise was horrible at first (cause i was weak) but after awhile, it felt great to sweat, you know?

now, i have get my butt up and lose 10-15 pounds.

Yeah in my opinion the organic stuff does taste better, and soy milk tastes good too. even though you don't think it will. I also found a lot of the healhy cereals to be really really good. They weren't full of marshmellows that were too sweet or anything, they had just the right amount of sweetness to it.

My calorie intake. . . hm. . . Probably around 1,000 - 1,500 a day maybe?
But I was eating a lot of healthy food, so I was eating like maybe 5-6 small meals a day.
Just right in portion size, and most of it was raw foods and such. Sometimes less, it really mattered, I didn't want to starve myself, wanted to always feel okay, and not light-headed or anything.
I ate like that with exercise.
I mean, you can't survive on 500 calories alone a day, with exercising for about an hour or something. I mean, you could, and people loose weight like that. But you can't do that for the rest of your life. I made sure to keep a few energy bars around for myself.
But again, i got them from Whole Foods and usually would stick to "Luna bars" or "Cliff bars". I wouldn't buy that crappy stuff from the supermarket or whatever. Those Snicker Marathon bars, or protein bars. THey have alot of crap in there i wouldn't eat.

I wanted to lose 30 pounds though so I would fit in clothes better and no fat sticking out.

60 pounds. I did it in a year. I completely let myself go in my late teens and early twenties. Around 23, I decided I'd had enough. I was living with an abusive boyfriend and my self esteem was pretty non existant. So I pretty much made myself into this weird fitness machine.

Of course, I lost all that weight then became pregnant when I was 24. laugh.gif

This past year I lost about 23 pounds.

Well from like April 2006 to September 2006 I lost 20 pounds, and since then I've only lost a few more.

It was because of my anti-depressants, and just having some self-control and not pigging out.

Yep, there's no way I couldn't have lost that much without being very strict. First off, I NEVER ate anything fried and never went to fast food (the latter was the most difficult, believe it or not). I didn't eat red meat and only allowed myself fish one day a week and chicken one day a week. I mostly ate raw vegetables and fruit. Stayed away from anything canned or frozen almost completely. Let's just say that the folks at Trader Joes knew me by name. laugh.gif

I made it interesting for me at one point by actually walking to the store after work to get only what I was going to eat that night. It was this out of sight, out of mind type philosophy and I really, truly think that helped. I also worked out every single friggin day. I didn't care what class 24Hour Fitness (the gym membership I had at the time) was having, I'd just hop in. I didn't want to be at home and since my activity was monitored (long story), the gym was a safe place to be.

Now, there's no way I could possibly do that again. At least not that much and certainly not in that time frame. For one thing, I'm older, MUCH older (and with age, my poor metabolism isn't what it used to be). I'm also a parent now and I couldn't possibly work out every day after work.

My son is starting hockey soon and the place they practice and play is down this hill from my house. So what I think I'm going to start doing is walking there whenever he has practice/games. I also just bought a treadmil. yahoo.gif So when I'm watching "Lost" (for example), I'll try to run/walk at the same time. :)

Something I've done recently (for a few reasons) is to start keeping a food diary and I'm going to submit that food diary to a friend (thanks Kiera throb.gif ) I think I'll do it once a week though, since it seems a bit tedious to give to her everyday.

Wow that was a long winded reply. ermm.gif

I intentionally lost ten pounds last summer. It wasn't a very good idea because last summer before I started losing weight I was already considered underweight...

Now my weight fluctuates by about ten pounds.
I keep gradually gaining because I've done a lot of weightlifting for a while now.

I lost 20 pounds from Aug 2006 to now. I basically ate A LOT less than last year when I ate about 5 times a day - full meals. I tried to control myself and didn't eat snacks, cut out the junk food, candies, soda, etc. But I still ate healthily except the portions were less. I didn't really exercise like crazy but I definitely moved around way more than I did before. For example, I would get off 1 stop earlier on the bus so I can walk more, and get up during commercial time and just move around a bit, just little things like that.

I still want to lose 5 more but I don't have that motivation anymore =x I eat candies and snacks now so I really am not cutting any pounds right now..and summer's right around the corner! I hope I can do it by June!

I went from 100 lbs to 115 lbs (in college, the famous Freshmen 15 haha) and I caught mono (from a cheating BF) and I dropped down to 88 lbs which was really bad considering I'm 5'2" and rail thin to begin with. So that's almost 30lbs. I looked like Nicole Ritchie _unsure.gif

Close to 25 pounds. I didn't even need to lose it, really. I was a size 8-9, and now I'm a size 2-3. That's a lot of dress sizes for only 25 pounds, but I'm only 5'4" so that might be why.

45lbs in 3 months.

All it took was for a girl (which I didn't even like) to call me fat in such a gruesome manner.

The very next day I joined the gym... and hit the treadmill hard... 45 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes of running. God I looked disgusting at 190lbs though, I love being 200lbs even.

It's weird though. Maybe there's something wrong with my scale, but before dinner I was 92 pounds, and after dinner I was around 80.. lmao.

eight/twelveish pounds or so in three days.

depression and complete disinterest in eating, so that's not healthy.

I lost about 10-15 pounds when my uncle and grandfather died. I was 90ish pounds then... it was scary.

I wouldn't recomment depression as a way to lose weight though... =) Just dump junk food and exercise more.

I lost about 13 pounds over 3 weeks at a fitness camp in Ojai. It doesn't sound that great but I'm not super overweight, just a little... cushy. XD.gif

I went from about 120lbs. to 103lbs. a few years ago. I just stopped eating a lot of shit and junk food all the time and exercised a little more. I gained some of it back now though and its bugging me. pinch.gif

I've only cut weight on two occasions, both at 3-4 lbs. a week for two months, which is the feasible limit before the body undergoes proteolysis and catabolizes muscle.

I've gained 110 lbs. in three years.

Never touched it, but I still wouldn't want to go much over that. Ephedrine's anti-catabolic properties are limited by its short half-life.

Yeah I used to use Clenbutrx from VPX when it first came out. Holy shit that was a cocktail of natural weightloss chemicals. I did lose muscle mass but I didn't lose strength, which is odd because normally as you lose large amount of size, you lose the strength with it.

Now the new Clenbutrx sucks my ass... weakest shit ever. But that's cuz Ephedrine got banned by the f****ts in Washington D.C. =\
