I'm studying for my midterms and I have to say that I hate the math system in NY. Math A, Math A/B and Math B are really tightly packed( you have to learn things fast) and next year they're going to change the system again because so many people were failing the course's regents and etc.

For those of you who don't know about Math A and etc. Math system in NY

Does anybody else have to take Math A and etc? And what do you think about the system?

Well, I'm supposed to be the last class ('10) to take Math A and B. My school (don't know about others..) is reverting back to Integrated Math next year, when the new freshmen come in.

It's pretty easy, actually.. I just finished Math A 3 on Monday and I'm taking the regents tomorrow. pinch.gif I've taken most of the previous Math A regents as practice already, and they're really easy.
It's just that they're too demanding and they need you to show ALL your work. Labeling graphs, writing out the equation, Let statements, etc. If you don't show all your work for parts II, III, and IV, they give you only one point for each question. I don't think it's fair. ermm.gif

I like the math system. Maybe it's just your teacher that teaches too fast.. All the past teachers I've ever had for Math A were really good.

Don't know about Math B though, I'm starting that in February. pinch.gif

It's set up weird. It would be much easier if it was Trig, Geometry and Algebra.

Math B bites, just a warning.

That means that I have to really step up my game next term. pinch.gif

I guess it would be easier if it were split up. I was thinking about this after the test today.. All they do is teach all the basics in Math A 1 and keep piling stuff on in 2 and 3. If they separate the chapters better, it'd be a lot easier to comprehend.

I didn't do so good with Math A, all 3 parts. I think I only got to move on to Math B was cause I passed the Math A Regents. I just finished taking Math B part 1, and it wasn't bad at all, since the whole thing is proofs. It's all writing and remembering stuff. I think it was easier than Math A, IMO. But my teacher said in the 2nd and 3rd part of Math B, it goes back to dealing with algebra so pinch.gif

I hated the part where we learned Math logic in Math A. It was so confusing!

^ Damn! I got 97. sad.gif I got the properties question wrong (it was commutative >.<), and probably a point off for the histogram question because I forgot the squiggle. Oh well..

Math B 1 sucks. Dude. There are no numbers at all! I hate proofs. _dry.gif
