What, to you, is The American Dream? Do you think that it's realistic in today's society, or is it even more attainable now?

My American Dream involves being as stable as possible. I want to be secure with my position in life; I don't want to have to worry about paying off that house payment or if I'm going to afford my ride to work. Being stable means being able to stop thinking about myself and help others. With my family's current economic status (working class, but not struggling) I see my version of the American Dream as possible, but for those in poverty it depresses me how difficult that Dream would be to attain. According to the 2004 Census, someone who is in poverty needs to earn $8,000 a year just to get above the poverty line; but how are they supposed to earn that much when they're just struggling to survive? verymad.gif

To be self-sufficient, have my own house and own car, living in with my husband and perhaps kids. Also, to be able to get a job of my dream career, and to maintain optimism in all aspects of my health.

I remember writing an essay about it for English class. BAD MEMORIES.

Our societies are better than theirs. It's not our problem. Our economy is growing. Every society is different. It's up to us, Americans, if we decided to support the needy people.

Real American dream depends on where you live. Living in African wont gave you a fat chance. In American, you have a better chance. Basically, it's depends on where are you at.

It’s important to go to school, get your education, learn, deal with problems, and become a stronger person.

Hold on, please clarify. Our society is better than which others? I was only referring to one society in my post, and that would the one in the U.S.

To fulfill my goals, hold a job along with the family, finish my education and become who I want to be as for a job.

Wow " The american dream"

I had to do a paper on that in english this year. We got teamed up and some how or another that ended up being our topic. We said the american dream was to have money or something along those lines. It ended up being the best in the class so I was happy about that.

Anyway I'll edit later pinch.gif
