I know there are lots of people on createblog who like Asian Dramas.*did search like a good rule abidding person* And I've recently gotten way into them. (Btw, the closest topic to this one was asian shows)

Which are your favorite:

Japanese drama:

Chinese drama:

HK drama (HK as in Hong Kong, which is part of China but who care?):

Taiwanese drama:

Korean drama:

And which ones you recommend to watch.

I really have to say that I haven't watched that many (I have been watching Chinese and HK for a long time but recently I've gotten into other types).

I loved "Hana Yori Dango" (Japanese) and "It started with a kiss" (Taiwanese) but I can't pick from Chinese and HK, I've seen too many. I've only seen one korean one "Which star are you from". That's why I wanted to ask which ones you recommend because I'm such a noob newbie to asian drama.

Taiwanese Drama: Devil Beside You
Korean Drama: Full House

^ I'd recommend watching those. _smile.gif

Description on Full House:
A naive, cheerful albeit, somewhat of a recluse writer, Han Ji Eun (Song Hye Gyo) is swindled out of everything she owns. Not by strangers, but her best friends! Stranded in another country, she is determined to get home with the help of an actor, Lee Young Jae (Bi), only to find that all which is precious to her has been sold. In an attempt to get her possessions back, she has entered in a contract marriage with Young Jae. It is quite simple, until feelings start to develop. Everyone around them test the "love" Young Jae and Ji Eun have for one another, including Young Jae's grandmother.

In spite of it all, Ji Eun manages to be humorous and endearing - even when her heart is breaking.

Japanese drama: I haven't watched very many, but I heard a Litre of Tears is good. My friends have been watching Death Note as well. And since you're already watching Hana Yori Dango, I guess I don't have to recommend that to you.

Chinese drama: I don't think I've watched any. Haha.

HK drama (HK as in Hong Kong, which is part of China but who care?): Actually, I don't think I've watched much HK dramas, either.

Taiwanese drama: Silence, Hana-Kimi (It's still running), Devil Beside You, It Started With A Kiss, At Dolphin Bay, MARS, Meteor Garden (Classic), Love at the Aegean Sea, The Hospital [These are just favorites]

Korean drama: Love Story at Harvard, Stairway to Heaven, Full House

I really recommend Silence, At Dolphin Bay, & MARS. If you want something a bit less serious, try Hana-Kimi or Devil Beside You. Of course, I recommend all those Korean ones too (they are amazing). I'm about to start a new one myself (Goong). Oooh, and I'm about to start A Love to Kill, as well.

Yeah, uh, I'm an Asian Drama dork. :[

Japanese drama: Hana Yori Dango / Kimi wa Petto

Chinese drama: ? I have't watched any yet

HK drama (HK as in Hong Kong, which is part of China but who care?): ? Didn't know they had dramas

Taiwanese drama: Devil Beside You - It's pretty good!

Korean drama: My Girl, Stairway to Heaven, Autumn Fairytale

I recommend korean dramas because they're really...emotional! My Girl was voted best in 2005, I believe. Stairway to Heaven made me cry in like, every episode! T_T Winter Sonata was good. I didn't think Full House was as funny as My Girl, was it it was pretty cute.

Love Story in Harvard was alright... It was pretty sad, but I didn't like how they came to America. I mean, they guy couldn't even speak English very well at all. It was like he was struggling so hard. I think they could've gotten a better actor to play the main guy. But the girl, who starred in Stairway to Heaven as well, is a sensation actress. She played the part really well and speaks English perfectly, too! Plus, she made me HATE her in Stairway to Heaven because she was SOOOOO mean! That's how good an actress Lee Tae Hee is!

well the only japanese dramas i've seen are hana yori dango, and currently watching hana yori dango II...still running.

taiwanese dramas i've watched:
meteor garden I (a classic...it's what got me started to watching tw dramas..)
meteor garden II
mars thumbsup.gif (one of the best dramas in my opinion...i think it's MY favorite. about romance and a little suspense.)
devil beside you (it's a cute drama...similar to it started with a kiss.)
silence (a really good drama. it's very sad though. cry.gif get some tissues. )
tokyo juliet (this one is okay. it dragged a lot though and it's kinda unrealistic. so i DO NOT recommend this one)

i heard Bump Off Lover was really good.
Recognitions (from d-wiki):
41st Golden Bell Award: 2006 Best Screenplay
41st Golden Bell Award: 2006 Best Supporting Actress
41st Golden Bell Award: 2006 Best Sound Effect
41st Golden Bell Award: Nominated for 2006 Best Drama, Best Actress, Film Editing, and Lighting

and hana kimi seems really good too. havent watched it though. the sypnosis seems kinda similar to the movie she's the man. (the one with amanda bynes) wu chun is in it though. and he's hot. XD.gif

ooh yeahhh....there's a lot more too.

Korean Dramas:
- Full House
- Goong
- My Girl
- What's Up, Fox?
- My Lovely Kim Sam Soon/My Name Is Kim Sam Soon
Generally speaking, watch the funnier, more light-hearted K-dramas. They're much less depressing than the really dramatic ones.

I don't really watch any Japanese/Taiwanese/Chinese dramas. I do watch HK dramas, though, but most of them aren't even worth watching, so don't download them.

^ Agree. The Korean girls are so pretty, it's unbelievable. Look, if you're going to spend 16 hours watching a drama, and you could pick between an ugly Chinese female main character, and, say, Song Hyekyo, who would you choose?

Obviously, the pretty Korean girl.

The only thing I don't like about it is that the story goes too fast, but otherwise it's REALLY GOOD.

^ lol

i couldn't take it after five episodes of stairway to heaven. maybe because i started dramas a little later than everybody else and stairway is kind of old. i felt like they rushed everything and it was going to become dragging so i lost interest. but definately kim tae hee's character was the most conniving evil biatch i've ever seen in all the dramas.. besides the boss guy in delightful girl chun hyang.

heard she was good in love story in harvard tho. have yet to watch that because i don't find rae won to be all that attractive.

AND GIGI I THINK HE IS HELLA CUTE TOO HAHA.

KDRAMAS! WHY ARE THERE SO MANY HOT KOREAN GUYS, WHY!

soooo yes I have watched a handful of korean dramas, though all their storylines are extremely predictable.

"OH NO I HAVE FINGER CANCER!"
"LET ME SACRIFICE MY LIFE BY CUTTING OFF MY FINGER AND DONATING IT TO YOU THUS PROVING THE DEPTH OF MY LOVE FOR YOU"

..etc

I used to watch Asian dramas. I still do from time to time. I never finish them, though. The only one I have finished is Autumn in My Heart. I got fed up with reading subtitles.

Ah, I need to watch 200 Pounds of Beauty. I have a whole mental list of dramas I need to start, especially K-dramas.

I've seen Meteor Garden, Hana Yori Dango (currently watching HYD II), Nobuta wo Produce ("Kon kon!"), Hana-Kimi (Japanese), and Devil Beside You.

I'm watching this Korean drama called Stairway to Heaven. It's so sad, but all I can do is get angry at the characters. My friend cries at every scene.

The girl with the nose bleeds, right? And like how the beach means so much to the lovers. Yep yep.

Aha, I'm kinda forced to watch the Thai Lakorns. I really like the Filipino dramas as well, even if I can't understand them.

I thought this was in Entertainment. I guess I'll do it for you.

i tried to watch 'it started with a kiss', i think i got to episode 25 or something. then i just stopped watching it because it got boring. i also watched 'the prince that turns into a frog' to episode 15 something and i got bored. i haven't been watching any asian drama religiously, actually the only dramas i have ever watched religiously are 'devil beside you' and 'why why love', maybe because the cast is fucking hot. i'm going to try and watch 'bull fighting' and 'smiling pasta' soon.

True that, Mike He is f**kin' gorgeous. And I always start out liking Rainie Yang, but her character always tends to get on my nerves.

HK Dramas: The Dance of Passion (they use really deep canto so if you're not really good in your canto, suggest you watch the one with subs) & War and Beauty (this is an all-time favorite!)

TW Dramas: Brown Sugar Macchiato

Korean Dramas: Save Your Last Dance For Me & Winter Sonata?

Japanese Dramas: Don't watch them, sorry!

Asian dramas are not to be equated with the mediocre American soap operas on TV.

That's why I wanted to ask which ones you recommend because I'm such a noob newbie to asian drama.

indddiiaa dramma..

Korean Drama: Coffee Prince (throb.gif), Full House, Stairway to Heaven, Get Karl! Oh Soo Jung, Lovers in Paris, Love Story in Harvard, Snow Queen, Surgeon Bong Dal Hee, 9 End 2 Outs.

and that's all I know, lol.

My favorite drama of all time is 1 Litre of Tears (Japanese) . It's not your regular lovey-dovey drama but it's quite endearing and heart wrenching .

As for Korean and Taiwanese , I liked Couple in Trouble and Devil Beside you (:

@jaeminnie. LOL i'm surprised you think he's cute. i showed a lot of my friends, and they think he looks like a crackhead monkey. the drama is 22 episodes and the storyline might not be great, but there are certain parts that make it worth it. i'm surprised that you haven't watched any kdramas, you listen to a lot of kpop ohmy.gif

No, he looks nice! He actually reminded me of Jonghyun in SHINee. I was like, "Wait, Jonghyun's never acted...." Haha. And yeah, I listen to so much Korean music that I should have seen at least the biggest K-dramas by now, but they all got licensed on Crunchy Roll. I'll watch them on Mysoju, though.

Which is why I'm watching "Worlds Within" right now with Hyunbin AND Song Hyekyo. Talk about a perfect pairing.

My cousin watches a bunch of J-Dramas so I've watched bits and parts of different shows with her.

I watched almost all of Nobuta wo Produce. That was a pretty good show, I liked it. I started watching Death Note but never really continued with it. There was another one I watched like four episodes of but I don't remember the name...

Oh and I watched like two episodes of 1 Litre of Tears also.
