Basically, an anti-RPG (Rocket Propelled Grenade) system called "Trophy" has been designed in Israel. Seeing how America could benefit from the Trophy system, especially when it comes to the war in Iraq, Israel tried selling the system to America.

Now, Trophy has been tested before, and it's proven to be extremely effective. Trophy is designed to be fit on a tank and detect RPGs from all directions and be able to detonate them from a safe distance. Even the experts agree. Trophy would especially seem useful in Iraq, as many American deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan have been caused by RPGs.

However, rather than taking the offer to help soldiers from being injured or killed from RPGs right now, the military has decided not to buy the anti-RPG system from Israel, and decided to wait on the production of our own anti-RPG system. However, America's own system is expected to be completed by 2011.

QUOTE
Pentagon sources tell NBC News that the Army brass considers the Israeli system a threat to an Army program to develop an RPG defense system from scratch.
Okay, that's like saying "I'm not going to take thi life-saving drug because I don't like the company that makes it, so I'll wait for another company to start producing it."

It's a definite moral obligation vs. realistic thinking kind of deal, and I've never been much of a realist, so I think it ought to be instituted, even with the cost both financially and concerning the development of our own RPG defense system.

That's retarded. Just like the fact we're at war in the first place.
