Have you ever looked for a word to describe something but couldn't find the right ones? I know it happens to me a lot, but this word got me thinking: "mamihlatanapai". The most succinct word in any language, it means "'Looking at each other hoping that the other person will do something that both parties want but neither is willing to do."
Personally, I think there needs to be a word for that feeling that slightly woozy feeling you get when the elevator reaches your floor. ![]() |

I bet you can totally find the word if you study root words. I did it unsuccessfully last year in 7th grade.

There should be a single word, not a group of words, but ONE word that describes that feeling you get when you're really into a book, and it ends the chapter at a cliffhanger, and then the bell rings, or you have to stop because it's the last chapter someone wrote on Quizilla or something...A group of words would be "on the edge of your seat and the rest of the theatre just exploded."

Queasy. Heh, I've never thought of that. It doesn't hit the spot exactly, bit pretty close.QUOTE What language is that? It's the Fuegian language of Argentina. I love that word. Wow. I hate it when that happens. They seriously need a word for that. Or when a movie all of a sudden stops in the middle because of some damn technical error. Baaaah. |

Earlier I was trying to find a word for 'that guy she's [supposedly] marrying'; I settled on "boyfriend," and was quickly informed that what I meant was "fiancee." It just didn't seem correct, because the idea that this girl is getting married is so preposterous that "fiancee" seemed too...mature, I suppose.

Well, if there isn't a word for it, then I guess it should be a made-up one
![]() Btw, I made up a word a while ago..."snacklegorfed." It means you have gone to the bathroom, but didn't use the toilet. You showered, washed your hands, brushed your teeth or something. |

Sometimes, when I need a word to describe something, I just take one word and add some of the personal endings on there.

I think every language has a word that can be translated into a phrase in English. There's English words that translate into phrases too. There's words in English that are like a sentence in German; I just can't think of any off the top of my head.

There's a way to say "I curse your whole family for generations" in one word in Korean.

Yah, I agree, because sometimes I can't figure the word out and I'll have to ask or think of it my own, which takes a while, and I have a little hard time of describing things.

Recently i waited until the last day to do a history term paper and ended up staying up till 4 am finishing. All in all I spent fourteen hours straight on the paper and I'm wondering...
What would be a good word for the feeling of utter exhaustion and cramping from too many energy drinks but at the same time extreme joy that the paper is amazing and you know its better than anyone in the class could have possibly written AND you finished it at the last damn second ![]() I find its the extreme emotions and combinations of them that need new words to describe them.. or else your just short-changing your emotional expression -philler da' killer |
