Well i know most of you are asian or from asian decent so that means that your parents are kinda timid about letting you do some things that most other kids do(American). My parents are like that cept there not azn and there not used to "American Teen culture" or they simple dont care. why is this in the girls forum? IDK I will have more responses i suppose.

Well im not aloud to go out, they think im gunna do something bad lol or drugs and im a seinor now... it really sucks but when i do go out I GO OUT.

Please dont respond by saying that your parents dont let u do drugs or have sex or drink, really pointless to say that whos parents does....?

i'm pretty much allowed to do anything, as long as i'm with a friend. i'm trusted enough not to smoke, do drugs, etc. and i don't want to, either. it's just gross. pinch.gif

I would never smoke or do drugs or anything but i guess they dont wanna risk it. Like they dont really like me going to friends house at night just to hang out . I dont think they even like the whole "hanging out" idea. They tell me to study when they deny me access to go T_T

That.
But I'm allowed to go out and stuff.
Only because I don't often and because I like to stay at home.
Just I can't go out with boys.

My parents main thing is what I might do on the internet.
I'm not allowed to chat/talk to anyone.... AT ALL.
So I have to sneak on to this website.
I cant have a myspace, even though I still do.
I've never been allowed to go to a slumber party, or spend the night at someones house.
I'm very rarely allowed to go to friends houses.
I'm allowed to drive, just not without them being in the car.

And the list goes on and on.
But for some reason, I'm allowed to date. o_O
I'm 17 btw.

- no slumber parties.
- don't talk to boys.
- don't drive friends around.
- rarely allowed to friends' houses.
- No dating.
- have to beg to go to dances.
- No playing cards: thinks I'm gonna gamble.
- Don't talk on the phone for long durations. long to them would be like more than 10 minutes.

haha, there's way more. I know they would disapprove of me being on here. But, I just don't tell them what I do or let them see me. My parents are super strict.

Uhm actually at one point in time my parents actually wanted me to get out of the house and do something then stay home, but I didn't have anything to do so it never really happend.

Now a days though I guess I don't really go out and do anything still but its not really my parents. Somewhat it kind of is because I have to stay home and watch my younger brother a lot.. Their not scared i'm going to go out and do drugs or anything though.

I'm mostly vietnamese.

Hrmm parents are somewhat strict.
My dad's the more bizzare over protective asian parent.
My mom's more lean on things but she has a limit on how much she can take.
And since my dad trusts me I usually
get around some of his rules depending on his mood.

Rules include: No dating before I go to college..
Hrmmm not to mention no drugs, no boy's house,
it doesn't even need to be mentioned to be known
that they don't want me having sex,
they don't want me going outside by myself sometimes,
having guys over for sleep overs.. All sorts of things really.

But they're giving me more responcibilities as I grow up a bit,
so that's good. ex: like instead of learning how to drive by 18,
my dad decided to cut the age limit down so I could learn by
next summer before my senior year! laugh.gif

mellow.gif they basically just wont let me have a bf until im 21, won't let me go to a friend's house that she's not familiar with their parents yet, won't let me have friends OVER that she's not familiar with their parents, no talking on the phone with boys (she listens into my conversations). and since i do sometimes, she wont let me have a phone yet. basically no FRIENDS that are boys.. if she sees me hanging out with a boy, i better hope he can run fast.

My mom also thinks I don't know what SEX or DRUGS are. So we never really had "the talk" yet about sexytime or talking about using alcohol/drugs. wtf

and no talking to strangers online (like i do.. a lot..)

>< wow. Jeez. I'm like 100% asian though. hehhh

My parents are pretty flexible with the rules:

-no staying out later than 6:30 (other than on fridays and on the weekends.)

-no traveling too far away from home.

-no sleepover at someones house. (Unless I'm really close to them.)

-no wearing "flashy clothes"

And that's about it _unsure.gif

- no boyfriends until I am out of college and have a stable job
- can't go out unless I'm with friends they know and trust
- no drugs, no alcohol, no smoking (I actually agree with them in this)
- I'm not allowed to go out without telling them
- can't go to a place too far from home

... and of course, last but not the least....

- I can't fail any of my subjects and should always be part of the Honor's List.

... If I did fail... I would be like... a disgrace or something. cry.gif

I'm not allowed to date, go out, and go to Sunday school. Of course, I'm not allowed to get involved with drugs and alcohol or sex. The only music I'm allowed to listen to is classical and traditional stuff. I've never been allowed to a sleepover. I can't go to dances and school activities (like fundraisers) unless they know the adult supervisors are watching me.

I can't go on walks alone, and I'm not allowed to be home alone. I can't use the phone unless they know exactly who I'm talking to, what we're talking about, and unless I let them listen in. I'm permanently banned from any sort of instant messenger (haha), and I can't have personal websites. For anything that involves a password, they have to know the password. I can't post pictures online or send pictures.

I can't have my own email or account to anything. Nothing I own is actually mine, it's theirs. I sometimes can't close the door to "my room" (it's actually their room, and I'm not allowed to use the radio or cd player... or the snooze button, and etc. There's tons.

Basically, my parents are hilarious. laugh.gif

i've earned a lot of my parent's trust. i get good grades, i get things done and have never been in trouble with the law or school or anything.

my curfew is 11 and i can go out whenever as long as im back by 11. i dont even have to tell my parents where i am going or what i'm doing. they got me a car so i can drive around. im not allowed to sleepover very often, but i dont like to anyways. on party nights or like special occasions my curfew is like 2 or 3. but they stay up and make sure i am home by then.

im allowed to date. im allowed to have guys in my room as long as the door is open. im not allowed to be at someones house without parents but i do anyways?

that's ab it.
im korean btw.

Rebel.

Yeah, you just gotta tell your parents how it is. They can't control you 100 percent. If you're under 18 I feel they have every right to tell you what you can and can't do, but after that, you're legally an adult, so make your own choices.

Haha, it's kind of the opposite for me. My parents don't like driving and I've got a permit so I just drive them places and stare at walls/do homework until it's time to go. There's not much else I can think of, though.

my parents are the same way, well my dad anyway. he'll say "don't you have something better to do than stay home?" then again, my parents aren't really "average" parents i guess because they don't care about drinking and my brother never really got in trouble when he tested positive for weed, but i dont do anything outside of drinking. they're really good about letting us do whatever we want and dont care about most things. it's not like we all stay out til 3 in the morning though and have 12 kids. we know right from wrong and they know that.

Um...well, my parents are pretty cool. Basically, I'm not allowed to date until I'm in high school, which I'm cool with I really don't see the point of dating anyone in middle school...

And uh...Well, I can't stay out tootoo late, but I'm usually just with my two best friends and we just go to the movies or out to eat so there's nothing really to worry about.

And my parents trust me, too, so they know I wont do anything bad, so they're not like constantly enforcing rules or anything. It's nice.

My dad is pretty lenient towards most things, I'm in a LDR and he lets him come down to our house and stay and I get to go up to his moms house and stay up there. When it comes to school and stuff he expects me to get A's though, and kind of looks down on me when I get something less pinch.gif

I really don't know about their whole "dating" thing.. I doubt they'd let me date until like.. college, because they'd be like "WHY ARE YOU OUT WITH HIM?! GET BACK TO STUDYING!" and junk like that. Umm, I don't go out a lot, at all.. maybe like one party every month or so at the max. I'm never allowed to just go out and take a walk, or hang out with my friends unless it's over a long weekend ("interference with the learning process"), and I'm never ever ever allowed to take the metro or any sort of bus by myself.

All in all, I guess my parents aren't really overprotective. I'm okay with it, compared to what some of my friends have to endure.

They let me do anything as long as it's not illegal. They even let me drink with moderation, and they trust me that if I get drunk, I'll come home safe, and I'll only do it in special occasions. Also, they don't let me stay out till 1:30 AM...yea...

My parents are either very trusting or just stupid.

I've been able to:
Sleep over a friend or two's house
Go out and stay out 'til 1 or 2 or even 3AM--even if I was gone all day
Go out of town 50-100 miles away

And all the while having the opportunity to drink, smoke, do drugs, and have sex with friends and/or 'strangers'.
I've only done 2 or 3 out of those, so. I think they leave it up to me to decide what I can and cannot do, as long as they don't know about it. Oh, and all of this was by age 13. I'm 17 now.
