I have one of these! When you were installing your software, did you install everything? Sometimes when i've done custom installation, my zen doesn't show up in the creative media source organizer and then i can't put music on it.

1- is your computer on windows XP?
2- do you have windows media player?
3- do you have a different cable that will fit?

Do you have windows media player 11? I did and had to 'roll back to WMP10 and then re-update it back to 11 and it worked! Or try to update it if you have 10, also. But I have a Zen Vision: M, so :/. It's worth a shot.

Creative Zen Micros don't use Windows Media Player to transfer songs. They only use Creative Media Source Organizer. Unless, of course, you downloaded the firmware on Creative's website. But, i'm assuming you didn't.

This is very basic, but you always start with the basics. Did you turn your Creative on when you hooked up the stuff? I think some mp3s do that automatically, but there are some that needs to be turned on or else it won't register. I just encountered that problem today when I was trying to upload stuff and it said that there wasn't anything attached.

they don't usually, but they can.

it's not as restricted as an ipod, but not as free as a UMS device.

Ok.

So it was on.

I tried it with 3 other computers and 8 different cables.

So I think I might need a new one.
