Hurray, it's that time of the year again! I think Angelina Taylor should be modded. (Sorry, I don't know your name.) Her posts are always very wise, and I think she'd be perfect for the job.
>_> I think I'd actually be ready for the job this time...but will I even get nominated? ![]() |

Yes, do keep in mind that the applications are made public so everyone has a chance to give us input. Feel free to express your support for applicants, but giving reasons or examples as to why you support them would be extremely helpful. ![]() |

I think her name is Angelina Taylor. ![]() Anyway, I disagree if you were talking about People Staff. I think someone on People Staff should be approachable and friendly...and she doesn't give off that vibe to me. She comes across as argumentative and overly opinionated (to me of course). Of course I have never talked to her, I'm just stating my opinion. ![]() |

Not really, Design Staff is a position you earn through hard work and dedication. Plus, it's not fair to every other mod that has had to work hard to recieve the title. Since someone did apply for that position we will consider him for blogger, xanga, myspace, lj, etc.

This reply isn't directed specifically at anyone...it's just what I think. I think being a mod has to do with a lot more than being nice. Being nice is a GREAT start, but it'll get you halfway if that. You have to be strong. That's how mods become "memorable" or "successful". You have to be open to critiscism at all times, and not feel the need to lash out or complain. You need to be able to look at it, accept it, think about it, apply it and move on. You might even have to compromise part of your natural personality, because you're working with a group for a group. i agree a 100 percent, with the bolded portion. even though ive never had a mod position before. *sigh here i go again with the chef to mod comparisons* i find that being a mod is alot like being a head chef you always have someone who will feel that you are not fit to be where your at. you will have that person who feels your not good enough to be where your at. you have to take that criticism and if its criticism thats worth listening to think about how you can apply your self to be better. at times as she stated you have to sometimes "compromise part of your natural personality, because you're working with a group for a group". same way in culinary arts. if you cant do that being that "head chef" you have to work with people,be open to peoples styles and opinions, and sometimes put your foot down when theres something you dont like or dont agree with. its all about leadership and strength with a pinch of kindness. ![]() [EDIT]and if it really irritates people that i use the comparison of culinary arts to being a mod and feels that the two have no correlation. one,i beg to differ in some ways they are the same. and 2 i have a passion for my line of work as i would for the position i applied for. my passion for cooking is something that some may not understand beacuse either they think its dumb or they just dont understand. ok now you can rag on me. ![]() |

Suzzette & Robbi, thanks guys! And I know my activity is one my main "flaws". I am hoping that after my family situation calms down, I can work on it more.
Also, those who put themselves down in their applications, "I want to be a mod, but I know that I'll never get because of blah blah blah", that really isn't helping your case. Just highlight your strong suits and be confident in who you are! Even if you aren't the most popular or well known member, it doesn't mean your application will be overlooked or discarded. Have a little faith in yourselves people, that is wayyy more attractive than a person who doesn't think they have a good chance at getting the job. |

For a pleasant change, I agree with Suzzette. People can't be appointed to staff solely because they are 'sweet', or 'nice', or what have you. Rachel fits the bill... admittedly I don't know some of the applicants well, but she seems to be prett much it...
Not to say that Rachel isnt nice and sweet, btw, lol. She just in JUST nice and sweet |

Just to add on to what Suzzette said. People mistake People Staff as a simply "community" position, a position used to interact with members and build connections. Though this is very important, the job is not purely that. People will definitely criticize and judge you and your abilities. However, you can't let this compromise your job. You've got to be strict but fair and not be biased on your decisions, no matter who your friends are. You can't second guess yourself. Think about a decision and discuss it with other moderators, but most importantly, trust your instinct. Moderators are hired because they should know what is appropriate around the community and what is not. Instinct is important. Make sure to give valid reasons when delivering punishments. Just a couple tips. Definitely, Robbi (who I miss on staff tremendously). You just do the best you can and KNOW that you aren't perfect and that you ARE going to make mistakes. Know that people are going to be quick to jump on you for those mistakes. It's just part of the job. ![]() I always find it interesting that at the time of a hiring, people tend to show off their softer side of Sears. Not that I've seen this yet, but please just be natural. Being pretentious or phony isn't going to get you anywhere. I think James is a good example of this. Trust me, James and I have definitely had our issues, to say the least. ![]() *Goes back to applications* Good luck everyone and please, don't be afraid to apply. You never know what possibilities you might miss out on. ![]() |

Well Design Staff position isn't availble, but I feel I am more than qualified. That's why I posted it in here, I'm sorry. ![]() Design Staff is a promotion, and when you get it...DAAAANNNGGG does it feel good. Just for now work in Xanga (I think that's what you applied for), and work yo' way up. Let me just tell this to all the people who are submitting for a design related job- You're going to be going through the graphics queue. You might see some horrible graphics that'll make you want to fork your eyeballs out. And you might see some great photography and manipulations and whatever. But, for the most part, you do reject a lot. People have the great tendancy to NOT read the guidelines, which I don't really understand because, you know, they are there for a freaking reason! *shrug* But be prepared to get PMs back (from people whose artwork was rejected) following the lines of "F--- YOU YOU STUPID MOD YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOURE DOING!" or "YoU'rE ReTaRdEd! hehehe" or some pathetic long explanation that usually has nothing to do with the graphic in question at all. If you're going to apply, you just need to have a strong character and stick by your decisions. Don't let something in that you feel doesn't qualify. Always stick to your decisions. Ye be warned. That's all I have to say. I don't really know what else to say about myspace/xanga/LJ/blogger because all I really did was graphics, to be honest. I was just a photoshop savvy person, so, I conquered graphics. And would you please hire Michelle (Insomniac) so she can eliminate all the dang porn that gets posted in LJ Help?! I haven't really reviewed much other peoples applications... |

also, james should be offered a chance. just because he doesn't get along with everyone doesn't mean he doesn't have something different to bring to the table. forget about his past and think of what he can help do in the future. he's probably one of the smartest people here and one of the more qualified for people staff. |

All you people keep saying so-and-so would/wouldn't be a good mod, but nobody says why. :( uh, yeah. :x i honestly think some people (not saying names; people in the chat already know) wouldn't make very good mods. for one, most of them don't believe in themselves. another thing is that some people suck up to mods, and that's not a way to get yourself on the list for being considered mod-material. 97% of people who did apply for people staff, need some maturing up to do; like tina said. honestly, i don't know what would happen to cB if those people were modded. i said a lot more, but i forgot it all. wow strong words tina, I agree with you. Theres people here that can improve and shape up. I myself have some improvments to do as well. sometimes people look at you and judge you by first impression. Don't let that be a reason why that will hold you back in pursuing what you can do. But there are also times when Impressions matter the most.

I think it's great you guys are enthusiastic and so supportive. Honestly, I do. :) We need more than that though or those you are supporting might not get the voice of support they truly need/should have. I hope that makes some sense. So please, put a little substance in your posts whether or not you are voicing your support or voicing your concern. Thanks a bunch and good morning everyone. :) |

I LOVE YOU KRISTINA! ![]() When I was on Xanga/Design Staff, fortunately I didn't receive too much hate PMs on rejections. However, I wholeheartedly agree on the fact that it takes much more time to be on design-type staff that as a normal member who posts in the design forums regularly. THE SUBMISSIONS QUEUE is one thing that you really need to dedicate your time on. It can take hours and hours to clear up a category, leaving you barely enough time to post on forums, actually. So when you apply for design-type staff, make sure you have more than half an hour to spend time on here everyday. :) |

Rachel and Tina both know what they are doing in terms of the way the site is run and where things go, and are both well known and well liked members of the community. You would be psychotic not t hire anna as livejournal staff, just take a glance through the forum.
Also, Seon Ho. Because it would be fun. |

I always find it interesting that at the time of a hiring, people tend to show off their softer side of Sears. Not that I've seen this yet, but please just be natural. Being pretentious or phony isn't going to get you anywhere. I think James is a good example of this. Trust me, James and I have definitely had our issues, to say the least. ![]() i would like to show my support for rachel. enough said. also, james should be offered a chance. just because he doesn't get along with everyone doesn't mean he doesn't have something different to bring to the table. forget about his past and think of what he can help do in the future. he's probably one of the smartest people here and one of the more qualified for people staff. I'm glad that James applied. He has the right attitude and I'm sure people will respect him. Go Rachel! and James! haha. I'd apply, but my activity has been way low. And the fact that I'm on month-long winter break doesn't help much either. ![]() THE COMPANY THANKS YOU ALL FOR YOUR UNDYING SUPPORT. YOU'RE GONNA LIKE THE WAY YOU LOOK. I GUARANTEE IT. |

I certainly think that Tina should be modded. She seems to be highly thought of and well known on Createblog. She'd be amongst the youngest moderators, but her actions speak louder than her age.

Honestly, I think the only people qualified to be on People Staff are Seon Ho & Kathleen. I know many other applicants whom I hold near and dear to my heart as friends, but I feel that these two people are the only ones who have the experience and dedication to mod well. Despite the controversy surrounding them, they are the only two applicants whom the moderating team should hire, imo.
edit: You're right, Suzzette. But I still think Kathleen should be on staff, even if she's Xanga Staff. |

^yeah he did.
I'm still for James (the brit), I have been since the hiring when I was first a mod (four score and seven years ago...). He may have pissed a few people off in the past, but he has great judgement. He would also bring tons of new ideas into the team and he is active throughout all of the community forums. Anna as well, for similar reasons. |

I remember there was a rule that all mods must own at least one blog (when I was still on staff)... is that rule still being implemented?

^ Well, to apply you must be an official member, and to be an official member, you must be advertising CB on either xanga/myspace, etc.
so by default, yes, i guess |

oh... ok
![]() i knew that. lack sleep is getting to my head. i dont see what is wrong with him. i think he had a few good ideas the most i agreed with was this ..somewhat - The CB environment: Members: This site thrives on it's members. It's the members that make this site what it is. Without users this site wouldn't mean anything. We will always have a need for more members. New members on this site need to be appreciated and welcomed. They have to feel as if they apart of this community. Instead, new members on this site are faced with a cold and harsh world. Honestly, there are so many "clicks" on this website that it hasqu become an extremely hostile environment. I don't care about mentioning names in this situation. I have seen plenty of new members enter the Relationship forums only to be cussed at for their stupidity by "krnxswat". If I was a new member I would have no reason to become a dedicated member if my first experience on the site was ruined by some jerk calling me stupid in the most offensive way they possibly can or bashing me for my less than perfect grammar skills because they can't find any other reason to make fun of me. Also, I see many people get away with things just because they have seniority on the website. New members and Old members should all be treated equally. I will make it a goal to stick strictly to the rules of the site, and treat all members fairly. i agree with this 76 percent. i remmber being a noob not too long ago and i got bashed out of no where.[it was taken care of] but even i as a mod would want anynew member to feel as if they were welcome to come and post here. i remmber my first couple weeks here i can openly admit that i was self conscious about starting topics for the reason that someone might find one thing wrong with my topic and go on and on about it. so i do agree &support him on that. however i dont feel there are cliques on here i think there are just that one group of people on here that can relate to you that you always talk to and feel like they have your back somewhat but with that ive never seen any "hostility" of any kind then theres the part about new and old member superiority ive never seen it on here i find that all members get treated equaly ive seen threads of all kinds get closed noob or not to me its all the same. but i dont know. thats kinda how i see it with him im done rammbling |

I didnt bother to read his application. He is extremely irritating, commands ZERO respect from anyone who he speaks to, and frankly, has shown himself to be deluded to the point where it is pitiful on several occasions.
I, on the other hand, am charming and delightful to all. ; P |

Well, we all know you can't handle staff.. I mean, didn't you quit in like... the first week that you got on... oh, wait.. you were.... FIRED!! ![]() mmhmm...true mod material. sorry, but i'd have to disagree with josh being on staff especially with what he has said recently in the moderator changes thread. he acted as if staff was comprised of elitist leaders and that his little sunshine was mistreated. he always made it seem like he would never want to be on staff after dissing kathleen over nothing at all. i don't know, but it seems that his application is a way of redeeming himself for what he's said. although, he does present some nice ideas, i don't think it'd turn out good. found it... QUOTE Yo Yo you... you need to cool your jets. Did I ever say I wanted to be on staff... After seeing all the B.S. my sunshine has to put up with... I wouldn't even want to be on staff... *sigh* I guess I would want to be paid if I had to put up with all the crap that comes out of this community.

*yawn* Sorry, I just woke up.
Well, my application has nothing to do with redeeming myself. I see that this site needs something, and I'm ready to find out exactly what it is. I'll do my best if I'm on staff. Do I want to be on staff? Hmmmm, I wouldn't mind. I guess you could have taken what I said and think that I would never want to be on staff. Erf... yeah, pretty easily... Well, can't defend that, and I wont' take it back. I will say this though. I do feel as if the staff members are used and abused. They need to find ways to give staff members benefits for being on staff... At the moment it seems like the only thing you receive is "extra responsibility". This is no incentive to work hard. |

I am going to remind everyone to please keep this to staffing commentary/suggestions/criticisms only.
Any conversations outside of that need to stop right now in this thread and please, no bickering. (Not there is any yet, I'd just like to have that prevented). |
