Sarcasm is, by far, one of the lowest forms of wit. It's rarely clever, and in most cases, unnecessary. However, it can be funny at times. The problem I see most with sarcasm is that people overuse it. Once sarcastic responses and comments become common place from any given individual, a kind of hostility seems to sit with them. Not good. Bad.

i chose "it depends" because sometimes people can get out of hand and be so sarcastic that their remarks turn out mean and annoying. at times it can be funny...i think that almost everyone is sarcastic at times.

Agreed. I hate it when people are so sarcastic that I can't even understand what they're trying to say. Like...

I don't know. I don't find it funny or polite when people try to make you look like an idiot by using sarcasm. I laugh along if it's good-natured. And sarcasm without purpose or wit is annoying.

I would only sya sarcastic people are funny occassionally to a few times. Most of the time, sarcastic people annoy me because the instances where people are sarcastic, what they say offends me or sounds very insulting. The people I've come across that are very sarcastic can take it to the extreme, or make themselves sound annoying.

There's this guy in my journalism class and today, he kept saying "I was being sarcastic" after each sarcastic comment he made. It wasn't even funny, and really annoyed me. Ahh, it's one of my pet peeves, when people constantly say something after a certain something that they say. It's like after every joke you make, you're saying "SIKE!" or "JK! JK!"

Or maybe it's because I just don't get sarcasm, sometimes...

Everything must have a limit to it.
Thus, sarcasm can be used, but to a certain limit, because if you're too blunt to the point where you are actually affecting the other person's reputation and feelings, then that's when you know you should stop.

If the conversation I'm in calls for some sarcasm...then heck yes I'll use it. But the overuse of sarcastic launguage is just wrong. haha, i remember one time when my brother was like 7 (so i was like 4. the only reason i remember this is because it was on video), we were making a home video, and he kept on going, "i wanna look through the camera!!" and my dad said no, so he was like, "time to get sarcastic!"
haha, he told me later that he didn't even know what it meant back then, lol.

but yeah... i love sarcasm. :]
