I don't know if a thread like this has already been posted, but if it has, please tell me. Okay, I'm really interested in photography, but what type of camera should I use? You can't use digital cameras for photography can you? I want an outcome sort of like this

Digital cameras are for photography.. I think digital cameras are better because it's easier to get the pictures on your computer.
 SLR digital cameras are more on the professional level, which I don't think you should try just yet. Look through this topic for some nice cameras. And to get your pictures to look like that, you'd have to change the settings to black and white, have just the right amount of light, and find a good angle. |

Yes, you most definitely can use regular digital cameras for photography. It's just supposedly easier with SLRs and that sort.

Digital SLRs are the best way to go, but of course everyone's on a budget, and a really professional digital SLR costs an arm and a leg, so for now, get a Digital camera with a decent zoom, and at least 6.0+ MP. I recommend the Canon Powershot S3 IS.

I wouldn't worry a whole lot about megapixels. They basically just tell you how big you can make a picture. Megapixels don't have all that much to do with the quality of the pictures you're going to get. I mean, there's bona fide professional DSLRs out there with about 4.1 megapixels, and you know for sure that it comes out with mad vivid, crisp photos.

Then again, if you're planning to print the pictures you take, the megapixels will matter since if you're printing a larger image, you're going to need higher megapixels. I do tell everyone everyday at work that Megapixels don't really matter unless you're printing...
I remember I had a 3.2 and my friend had a 6.0. I pwned his. |
