like every single day?
I don't know. I seem to know a lot of people who are like never at school. D: Yeah. Well, do you? And do you know why? I've always been curious why. Especially since we have this attendance thing, where if you're absent more than 20 times (10 times excused -- 10 times unexcused) you have an F. :S And two girls I know have been only at school probably.. 10 days so far in the year. WTF? |

when i was in high school there was this one guy who was there maybe like 2 days of school... and graduated.. he was extremely sick, with a deathly disease and we only found out a few months after he had been diagnosed. but now he's better he just had been homeschooled.
a few other girls would always be absent because they'd just cut. and almost weren't able to graduate( they made up medical notes and such). now in college you can't be absent like 3 times for one of my classes or you automatically fail. and a few others its like 6 times but usually they understand but its annoying when your classmates espcially if you have a project with them, never shows up. |

^Wow. My college/university has nothing against people not showing up for classes, at least for first year courses. It's up to you whether or not you want to take advantage of the education you're buying. In upper year courses, the classes generally get smaller, so perhaps they have some sort of rules in place.

the college allows the professors to make up thier rules on attendance, the one with 3 absences is the strictest professor i've had and she treats us like were in middle school. so a lotta people are failing or close to be, she also takes into consideration the reasons why, but 3 unexcused = automatic f in participation and more than 3 i can't remember the number is you've failed the course, well they have the right to fail you, from my understanding.
in high school it was 16 absences. if more than that you can't graduate. one of my friends barely shows up to class its annoying. |

Not that I'm aware of. My school has a pretty good attendance record. We don't even need bells..
But I knew this kid in elementary school who was absent for 3 months and came back near the end of the school year only to tell us that she had cancer and that she wouldn't be back. And my brother was absent for 6 months because he broke his leg. Yup. |

Yeah, there was this one guy. He came kinda on and off at the beginning of the school year. He would come to school for like 2 or 3 days a week. Sometimes we wouldn't see him for a week or so. I thought he dropped out because he didn't come for a looong time, maybe 2 months. Well, he came back at like, the beginning of this week. I thought he had moved, but I guess not.

Mm, yeah. There's this guy in my science class who's never EVER there. I sat next to him last quarter for a month, or so, and he was there for maybe a week. Crazy stuff.

In 8th grade there was a boy called Eli in my class who missed the first two months of school because he had whooping cough, but other than that not really.

yeah, this kid named alex goes to school like 16 out of the 180 days we're required to. he was a freshman last year and he had to retake it again this year. he's STILL never in school though! the kid is extremely overweight and i think he has some health problems though.

Yeah, there's lots of people. A lot of people skip classes too. I think it's just 'cause no one really cares if they do or not. This year my mom is starting to care if I skip.. even if I'm sick she makes me go to school and then I have to call her to come home and it still counts as a full day of me being gone. It's a pain in the ass when I don't feel good and she makes me go to school and then call her when I could've just stayed home in the first place.
end rant. |

Oh yes, lots. I know someone who has 4 orchestra classes (only 2 acedemics) and yet still skips to practice all the time. And someone else who's missed the vast majority of the semester...I've heard a few theories on that one. Others skip just for the sake of it, but less. So yes, lots. With stories I won't bother telling.

I know someone who spends 0-3 hours of sleep each night just to play video games, and then that person skips school just to play video games from another 24 hours.

><; Well, this one girl I know has been absent (suddenly disappeared, used to be at school everyday) because she has a severe case of Bronchitis or something. :S But the other people I know, I just found out they just.. skipped. i can't believe their parents would let them. I mean, I come home, and find 20348023948234 bulletins posted by them on Myspace during school hour. -_- rofl. What has myspace done to people? |
