Ok, You know after your done painting your nails.. (For the gays and the girls out there) you put this gloss clear color over it to make it glossy...

Well, I just like to put it all by its self.. I have no clue why.. but I do..

SO.. down to the point of this topic..

Would you call clear a color? mellow.gif

Not exactly. Sometimes, clear would be more of a transparent white, meaning it would be a shade.
But then if you're talking about glass or something like that, clear is just clear. It's just plain transparent. Transparent isn't a color. It's something that light/color can pass through. I forgot what that's called, but it's not a color.

Uh, you can see colors but you can't see clear. Omigee. -dies-

I have kinda long nails. Well, longer fingers (that sounds gross for some reason) so my nails aren't like short & stubby or anything, so I don't really like to color them crazy colors 'cause I think it looks weird. I usually color them those really light neutral colors. I'm sucker for those fake manicures. Where you paint them on XD.gif

off topic, I know.

Yeah, same here! XD.gif No, clear isn't a color. Well, black really is less of a color than clear is, because it's the absence of all light or whatever.

Actually the more I think about it, the more confused I get. mellow.gif

Clear is not a colour. Our chemistry teacher gave us a whole lecture on it last year. There was this clear, colourless mixture, and people put it down as "clear" as their colour observation. He said we were all wrong, and that it's supposed to be "colourless". He takes out a blue liquid which you can see through. "This is clear, too. But it's blue." And we all got it.

Totally off-topic there.

Anyway, I don't consider it a colour. They should just call it "top coat", because that's what it is.

Is sunlight "clear"?

I don't know.

A popular scientist proved that sunlight is made out of common colors such as red, yellow, blue, green, and etc. you name it.

Sunlight gives those bright and blasting looks.

So does nail polish color …

btw, i forgot the scientist name. It was either issac newton or albert estein.

Okay, i think i'm misinformed. stubborn.gif

Clear is a lack of color, the absence of color. If they put something like color: clear then maybe you can try to sue them.

i've seen bottles that say "clear" as the "color" but to me it's just gloss but yea i do sometimes just wear that instead of painting them a color then putting the final gloss coat.

Sunlight is actually white light made up of all the colors of the spectrum (rainbow). Well, it's not really pure white light, but pretty close to it. I'm not sure who discovered it either. I don't really think it was Newton because he studied gravity. I don't think it was Einstein either because he studied energy and physics. ermm.gif

Most things clear actually have a bit of a tint. You just can't see the tint.
And, well, I don't think you can really sue them because it never hurt anyone.

So clear isn't technically a color, but if we want to get into this we can argue over black and white, too. XD.gif

Nah, you can't sue them for "false advertising" - they just did it for uniformity. pinch.gif

man, can we say sue happy?
what else are they going to put on there?
let's say that maybe a person is looking for a pink-tinted clear.
mine is blue-tinted, but it doesn't say clear anywhere on it.
if they just put clear, it ain't no thang but a chicken wang ;)
why's it really matter? people are stupid anyways,
this just helps stupify things to our level.

"Clear" is more like a description of opacity. There's "clear", "opaque" and "solid". You can have clear, opaque and solid things in any hue and colour possible.

So if you were describing colour AND opacity, you should really say "clear and colourless".

But like I said, they should really just call it "top coat", and cut the colour crap.
