I've never heard the word Honger before. I had a hunch it had to do with Hong Kong ppl though~

Us Hong Kong ppls are normally referred to as "Honkie" by others as a shortened version of saying ur from Hong Kong~ I've been living in Australia for 16 yrs & nobody has ever called me a Honger, just Honkie~ The terms in the urban dictionary sometimes is just a whole heap of useless crap somebody made up coz they said it. Hong Kong ppl are not called Hongers of Honkinese, we're called Honkies

In style of dressing, I'm not much of a fan of Hong Kong fashion myself coz I can't pull it off well in Australia coz ppls would just look at u oddly, but their dressing style seems to be influenced by the Japanese. The style is uniqueness & just completely out of it sometimes. The brands popular amongst Hong Kong customers are Vivienne Westwood, Bathing Ape, Nike, Arnold Palmer, Converse & LV etc...

Untrue. As always it depends on where you live. Seeing as you live from Australlia you're used to people calling you a "honkie." Around here, in Richmond BC, people from HK are generally called Hongers.

We here in Burnaby like to call Richmond "Hongerland" from time to time. happy.gif

"Honger" clothing...basically what people wear that is trendy in Hong Kong. Most of the time it's vastly different from the norm in wherever they actually live.

Most of the "hongers" in my school wear crazy bright colours. Female "hongers" like thing like bubble shorts, patterned leggings, Converses, etc. I notice a lot of crazy patterns on them. Male "hongers" like A Bathing Ape/Baby Milo tees and hoodies, Evisu jeans and Nike Dunks. Also in bright colours.

All these trends are heavily influenced by Japanese street fashion (just take a look at some HK magazines for the younger set - a lot of the brands are Japanese). So often, they can be very foreign and peculiar-looking to some native-born North Americans.

However, I really don't like it when people call others "honger" by the way they act. Clothing, hair styles...I can accept. I can't accept it when people generalize others' actions by what they wear. I hate it when people say that Hongers are spoiled, rich, loud, obnoxious brats. They aren't.

When I first saw the title, I thought "honger" had something to do with "hangovers".
Why is this in Fashion?, I thought. blink.gif

I've only ever heard honger, not honkie.
I occasionally wear honger clothes from time to time, but not usually a full outfit. just pieces here and there.

Honger for guys = waxed long hair, dyed. baggy clothing, BAPE, STUSSY. over size tees. hoodys with like very colorful pattern(depends), CONVERSE/umm THIS Kind of nike :S

Honger for girls = CRAzy HAIR, they MUST dye it. they wear long stockings, CONVERSE.

and drive really nice cars

only trait i have is the hair =/

I do. All the time. That's basically what "honger" is in our school.

They don't really do the cell phone around their necks thing so much, now.
