hi im working on a div overlay layout and i had a question about navigation links.

how do you make the links like they are in this page:

meaning having the words part of the background already? do you use a transparent div or anything similar?

You don't make a div for those. You type them directly on the layout image. Then you image map or image slice. You can do this with programs such as imageready and cutemap (the image slicing and mapping).

ive successfully made a div overlay layout before, but this is my first time working with image maps. i have photoshop imageready and i have generated the code, but now how do i integrate it with my div overlay css? its not working...

Post your code and I'll tell you what to do with. Basically all you need to do is add in the image url to your image in one part of the code. Then you just paste it in a div . (So that you position it where you want it)

hmmm... i put that section into a div and changed the indicated part to the background url, but the image map isnt working. does it matter where i place it in the code in relation to the other divs? ive tried putting the div in between the other divs in the code, but the div turns out as a black box unless i place it as the first or last div in the code.
