I noticed that a lot of talk in the individual threads for the systems is about which is better, why this one sucks, etc. How about we settle it here? You can discuss who you think will pull through in the end and why you think which system totally pwns.
My vote is on the Wii although I'd been pulling for the 360 until recently. Xbox 360 is still my favorite, but the Wii is just amazing. I've finally had a chance to see the Wii in action, and I gotta say, it is amazing. People argue it lacks power and that's really the only argument against it. However, it's not "lacking" in power at all. It just doesn't have as much as PS3 or 360 but still has enough to suffice. It more than makes up for that with it's original design and features. Not to mention Nintendo is making pure profit from every sale unlike Microsoft and Sony who actually lose money every sale. It has wonderful original titles and a great list of upcoming games. All I've been seeing is positive reviews for the Wii. Check this out. It's pretty accurate as far as determining how the race for the next generation is going, but I'm not 100% positive. All sources indicate it's good including IGN.com So what are your opinions? Post, post, post! |

Wii, Wii, Wii.
Cheaper and innovative. Yes, it doesn't have the same graphic capabilities as the other two, but you must admit it is by far the most original and accessible. |

PS3 is going to go down completely, its quite sad. I'm kind of sitting back waiting for sony to just die XD
-never liked sony- I complained about them before this system. Sony is losing about 300$ on each system and their selling them for 499. So now Sony has finally relized how big of a lose it is, and their now saying they may not even make as many as the amount they were thinking before. For the biggest success, I have to agree with Brenden. Its either the Wii for this year, and of course last year the 360 beat all since it was well, last year. |

I mean, look at this: ![]() That was their estimate. They'll be lucky to get over 1 million by the end of the year at this rate. |

Also theres the fact that the developers of the PS3 clearly said that you wouldn't see any difference from the PS3 to the 360.
^also: We all knew Sony was dropping a fair bit of cash on each PS3 sold, but we suppose we got a bit too hung up on the resultant pricetags -- the notorious $499 and $599 SKUs -- to give the actual losses much of a thought. Well, worry not Sony, iSuppli's got your back. Turns out Sony will be losing change to the tune of $241.35 for every "premium" (WiFi and 60GB HDD) console, and a whoppin' $306.85 for the bargain-basement 20 gigger. In comparison, Microsoft loses $75.70 per 360 it sells, while Nintendo is laughing all the way to the bank with a profit per Wii sold. Just in case you missed it the first time around, or fell off your chair and forgot what you were reading about: Sony will lose the equivalent (or more) to the retail price of a competing console every time a cash register rings up a PS3 sale this holiday. We suppose it's for the best, then, that Sony won't have a whole lot of 'em to hand out, since we're sure Sony's own costs will start to drop as production really ramps up next year. Be sure to peep the read link for a full breakdown of the costs. Microsoft actually makes $75.70 per 360 sold, as opposed to the $71 they were losing last year at launch. |

Well, they can't sell 1 million units if only 400,000 units are going to be avaliable to the public this year. Exactly. Haha. They overshot it and now people are getting mad cause they can't supply the demand. It'll hurt 'em cause people are gonna get sick of waiting around. Most people who preordered haven't got it yet. |

Here is a quote from the article: QUOTE Gamers winced when Sony announced that only 400,000 units would be up for grabs in North America on launch day, but according to Bloomberg, even that number may have been optimistic. Sad. *hugs PSP* |

Hmm -shrugs- I guess they changed it back, at first it was 400,000 but then they were a little questioning and thought about changing it to 200,000. I guess they never went through with that.

i really dont think the ps3 is a failure like some of you up there said. its just that ps3 tried to do so many things and really didnt think about how would it effect them. Their system is awesome but they should of lessened it down so that they were able to make enough before the holiday season, they set their goals too high and didnt achieve them. if they took out blueray and all those memory card slots maybe they could of lessened the price and made more and also the graphics cards.

Yeah, I think it's a little premature to say it's a flat out failure, but its future isn't looking very bright. It is a failure in the sense that it failed to be this huge hit like Sony claimed it would be right off the bat. I mean, look at that estimate they had that I posted a few posts back. It's a failure at the moment but we'll have to see in the long run. When I want to buy a gaming system, I want just that. A gaming system. I couldn't care less about all that additional crap. Sony failed to see that with PSP. They thought they could make up for lack of games with all that additional stuff but it didn't work. Now they'll pay the price for not learning their lesson before. |

I read in GameInformer that the Ps3 price will drop but so far only in Japan. If the price drop comes here we can all give our thanks to Square Enix and Konami for getting pissed at them. So the Ps3 might be able to pull through. I still thought it was better than the 360 even with the horrid price. But the Wii is where its at for me.

I think that by early 2007, when Halo 3 comes out, the 360 will be in the lead. I have friends who have been waiting for Halo 3 to come out to buy the 360..
The PS3 is ok.. It's just too expensive. I've played on my friend's and the graphics are really awesome. Better than the 360, IMO. Honestly, I don't like the Wii.. The new controller looks weird. BTW, What good games are coming out for the Wii? |

No offense against the Nintendo fanatics out there (because I don't want to get jumped on :P) but I haven't been digging Nintendo since the Super Nintendo days. That's putting my GameBoy Advance aside. Most of there games just don't appeal to me at all. I didn't buy Nintendo 64, didn't buy the GameCube, and won't be buying Wii. I didn't really get into the 360 because I'm was so immersed into my Playstation 2 and PSP. I really want a PS3 but there is really no way in debating that Sony is in a effed up position with all the PS3 mess. The price is just ridiculous for my broke college student budget. But regardless, I still want one. And that's not even counting the costs of buying games and memory cards. Playstation had (and arguabley still has) a firm grip on the gaming industry but at the moment they have an exposed weakness and this could allow from other gaming platforms to take the lead. Hmmm....we'll see. Maybe I'll try a 360 for the holidays in the meantime.....

^ Nah, I disagree. Microsoft owned the gaming industry in past years thanks to their great titles and Xbox Live. I've seen Sony slipping for years now. Their trying to pack in quantity to make up for quality but that's clearly not what people want. We want quality and Sony still fails to see that by trying flatter us with fancy things like bluray. When it all comes down to it, it's quality games that win in the end.
Elaine, here are some Wii games coming out or that are already out. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, WarioWare: Smooth Moves, Wii Sports, Super Mario Galaxy, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers, Metal Slug Anthology, Red Steel, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, Resident Evil, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Those are just a few original titles that will only be on the Wii. Lets not forget any 3rd party games that are made better with the Wii controls. Edit: Oh! Not to mention you can download all for favorites from NES, SNES, N64 and Sega. |
