So I won't have time to finish this tonight, but I'd like some critique on it. It's for a college application portfolio so be as harsh as you want, I need it.
It's like 180 layers so far? I don't know, I've merged a few. Please note: - The eyes, eyebrows, hair and jacket aren't finished - Neither is the background.

The teeth aren't finished either. Or is it supposed to look like that?
Everything flows! The skin is flawless. |

Very eyecatching, although I do suggest toning some of the colors down a bit (lips and eyes). I like the smooth skin, but at some parts it looks like you used the contract tool too much.

I LOVE how the eyes and lips "pop." [:
I do have some constructive criticism though; - There's a darker part of the lips (around the middle) that should be blended into the lighter colors better. - The skin color looks a bit silver to me (it might just be me) and should be toned into a more peach or brownish color. - Either the right nostril has to be enlarged and rounded or the left nostril has to be made smaller and flatten a bit, because they don't quite "match each other." - Part of the eyelashes don't quite touch the eye enough (mostly around the inside edges) - Don't forget the ears XD On the right side, the hair's a bit lumpy. Care to explain why, because I know you didn't do that on accident. Don't take this comment the wrong way, I just wanted to understand that side of the hair :] Just a suggestion: I don't know if it would, but the hair might look better if it was a little longer to the neck, curling out at the ends? Then again, I'm not proffessional like you. I just wanted to tell you a common person's view on this. |

Thanks for the feedback! And it wasn't supposed to be realistic, hence the silvery color

Is the area around the eyes (orange-yellow part) completely done with gradients?
Perhaps some shading with different layers (in a similar manner to the rest of the skin) with the same orange-yellow gradient overlay would work better. That way, there could be more depth to the eyes. Don't know if that made much sense. Anyway, great job. |
