no because i've seen it at blogring and i was thinking that it would be just as boring here. at blogring, it's just like the lounge, so i don't know why all the members here are so paranoid about it.

Hey... I think it was the same for me. XD No wonder I didn't care. I didn't even know about it! It's coming back now. I didn't realize I was promoted and didn't notice Backstage until about 5 or 10 minutes after when I saw the 'congrats new mods' thread in Announcements and saw my name on the list! How sad. :(

Ditto. But unlike Mona, I think it was the first thing I noticed. One of the first things I do when I log on is check the list of online users and I'm pretty sure that's how I discovered Backstage.

It's a hidden forum for the cB moderators to discuss the running of cB and other stuff.

And yeah, I've been to backstage when I was still on staff.
It was pretty cool to be able to post there in the beginning, but you don't find it very much different from the other forums here except it's much organized.

Been there, done that.

It gets interesting occasionally, usually when there is some sort of drama and the mods are bitching constructively discussing the matter without knowing that the people they are bitching about constructively discussing can see them. always entertaining.

Most of the time though, it is just administrative stuff, occasional decision making. the most active thread is their spam thread.

Oh, and if anyone DOES want to view backstage, i would like to point out that there is always a way. it just takes a bit of perceverance and a bit of care. go for it.

..no they don't. Backstage at BR is ridiculously boring.

QUOTE(digital.fragrance @ Nov 12 2006, 9:48 PM) *

Not really. The level of intelligence there right now is much higher than the current one on here. Old cB > BR at any point in time, but right now, BR pwns cB as far as members go.

Hah, me neither, I don't thing. It until after that it became.

I think my modding era was one of the most interesting periods on cB. Obviously, really old school cB would be best, but we had some great drama and whatnot too. And I miss the Fab Five...

Yeah, 99% of it is talk about cB. Stuff to move, close, merge, what to do with this, what to do with that, new ideas, etc. The rest is just a "How's everyone doing today?" and stuff like that haha. Not real interesting, as James said. Only when drama goes on. Actually, come to think of it, it's not even interesting then. XD.gif

Intellectual and interesting do not always go hand in hand. While the former certainly brings greater structure to the debate, the latter does not follow. Rather, it takes wit, not intellect, as well as sufficient fodder to generate proper interesting content.

LOL. Anna, join hands. one day, i STILL say JAK will run this place.

Well, Brenden, for a start the revolution would never have happened (although that would have been a shame, really, as quite a ot of good came out of that), but that was before your time. Basically, if we are in power, we tend not to cause trouble for those who are in power. i.e. when we get our way, we are less difficult to manage.

so if backstage is just a boring playground of sorts, why must it remain top secret? i remember when frankie told me about it once, just the fact it existed, then told me not to tell anyone i knew.

oops...

if it's insisted a lot that because we complain and you'd like to know what you can do to make it better, perhaps shit talking and having a place to run to and say this and that happened isn't the answer.

because it is occasionally interesting, and makes people feel special. like the clubc you used to have when we were little, that were top secret and met in treehouses.

anyway, the existence isnt supposed to be top secret anymore. they gave up on that ages ago, when the feedback fourm was introduced

i figured that since everyone knew, but this was back in early 2005.

QUOTE

but yet isn't it hypocritical to say that clubs in threads (made by members) isn't allowed? or has that been done with since nicki isn't on staff anymore? or perhaps did it just die?

why can't we have our own forums without mod access to talk about them or this and that?

I resent that. The demolishion of the clubs was a DAMN GOOD IDEA. They're annoying. And stupid. And I don't understand why my lack of modliness should lead to the removal of everythng I came up with. I knew Jorge was the spammer all along! I am always right! Always. Even when I make broad useless statements for no reason (much like this). Always.

Okay, back to hell for me..

I never had a special club with a special treehouse as a child. I need backstage to make up for that. mellow.gif

Okay, so in all seriousness, for those saying backstage is/probably is boring, I wouldn't say that. It's what you would expect it to be - a private forum for us to discuss issues concerning the site/boards so there is some sense of order when we present them to the public. I knew (or suspeceted) that there was some sort of forum for staff members since I've been a moderator on a couple of other message boards, but I wasn't exactly itching to get back there - I understand why it needs to be private, so I never thought about actually trying to sneak back there.

In regards to the shit-talking references - thankfully, this issue has been addressed and put down. I don't see this as a concern anymore. _smile.gif

Always.

Okay, back to hell for me..
and i'm not saying it wasn't a bad idea and should be brought back, but how hypocritical does that sound saying that everything we do is public or in p/ms, but they can have their own retreat? now, i understand this is a forum and that's the point, posting in public and i know that "secret" place is right for staff to discuss things, but why can't members have their own place. i'd hate to make it look like blogring, but i'm sure there would be people that would be for this.

why would you want a place where moderators cant go? it would get cluttered and messy, unless you gave mod powers to some of themmebers, which would entirely defeat the object. It is not hypocrtical in the least, as the mods are, for want of a more accurate term, ou rleaders, and with leadership comes privaleges.

how does giving some members mod powers in one forum defeat the purpose?

Because then they become mods in that forum, and it is not a modless forum, as there would be those who are superior to the others, with the power to decide what should and should not be discussed

I was never was interested in seeing anything other than what was visible when I first joined (which really wasn't that long ago, I think I'm just approaching a year in December). I saw "Backstage" before I was informed that I was hired, actually, so it was sort of strange.

There is a Chit Chat topic back there (or a "spam" topic, which is what some refer to it as, which honestly isn't at all far from the truth ;) ). I haven't had as much time to spend here as I used to so I can't really chat much there as often. If I'm here, I'm here for business, so to speak, and contribute as much as I can in the actual forums.

Besides, as Dani mentioned, the whole shit talk thing went a little too far, and no one involved (either chatting, reading, etc) was completely innocent. By-gones (I think, I hope) now, but still. I think that's a dead horse now.

The staff has been (of late) pretty prudent about posting relevant and productive topics/posts, which is great. Everyone is concerned and wanting to do what they can to try and help get cB out of the rut (hope it's cool with me saying that) it's been in.

Oh and Dani - I never had a treehouse either, I'm afraid of heights and terribly claustrophobic.
