how to cleanly cut something from an image?

hello-
I was wondering if anyone knew how to use Photoshop to cleanly "cut" an image out so that you can put a different background behind it, like in this picture below:

Pen tool is the "cleanest" way..but lasso's work well too.

I would suggest a magnetic lasso.

Those are easiest.

You may want to then blur the edges a touch though because they can sometimes be a bit jagged.

yes magnetic lasso is easier 'cause the tool actually outlines the image that you put it close to.
all you have to do is:
1, go around the image once so that you outline whatever image you want.
2, under the selection tab on the top click inverse.
3, press the delete button on your keyboard to delete the bg.

the pen tool is much better you just have to learn the basics of how to use it, u will get the best cut-outs of your life
