What kind of eye make up (colors, eye liner thickness, etc.) makes eyes look bigger?

Umm.. sometimes eyeliner makes your eyes look smaller. I guess it also sometimes depends on your eye color and how small it began with. >.o
Hmm.. Well, for me, a grey-ish colored eyeliner would make my eyes appear bigger. ERR yeah. The black ones make me look like I have hella chinky eyes.

Generally, eyeliner makes your eyes look smaller. That's not necessarily a bad thing, though, because if you're going for a more dramatic, sexy look, that would work.

However, if you want your eyes to look bigger, look for products that reflect light. Something shimmery (I'd shy away from sparkles if I were you; it borders on tacky). I find that it really helps to put a shimmery shadow on your tear duct and the general area of the inner corner of your eye (sort of a v-shape, if I were to describe it. In the diagram it's outlined in red). Those places tend to reflect light most easily, and give the illusion of a bigger eye.

Sort of like that.

If you're an eyeliner addict, though, and you still want your eyes to look bigger, then placement is key. Don't line your entire eye in a thick black line - that'll definitely make your eyes look smaller. Instead, opt for a less harsh colour, like a gray or a brown, on the outer corners of your eye. Try applying eyeliner right into the roots of your eyelashes, to give the illusion of a thicker lash-line, which can make your eyes look bigger. (drawn in with red)

And sort of like that.

I'm sorry that I love Paint diagrams so much. =(

Apply like the red line tells you, and that works really well with asian eyes! I have kind of a dark brown eye color, so I use brown/dark purple eyeliner; also, it's because my hair is dyed so it is lighter than the average black asian hair. For the more natural look, black eyeliner is too intense. Supposedly, applying white eyeliner on the bottom after applying the regular colored eyeliner will also make your eyes pop, but I haven't tried that theory, though Tyra Banks has proved it on her show biggrin.gif

Also, for colors, green & purple work well with asian eyes and asian skintones for eyeshadow. If I don't feel like wearing eyeliner, I just mix a brown & dark green shadow and apply it along my eyelids and blend accordingly, but by blend, I don't mean blend all the way up to your eyebrows like some people do cause I'm not referring to the smoldering look. Rawr. I don't know, hard to explain. I'll post a picture sometime. But anyways, eyeshadow has the same effect as eyeliner if used correctly is all I'm saying.

But the 'perfect' color to enhance the eyes really varies among person to person, because of eye color and skintone and hair color, etc. I'd say just experiment, but the green & purple is just a guideline based on my features and ethnicity.

I heard white eyeliner makes your eyes look more awake & bigger when you're feeling tired. Put it on the inside of your eye.

my eyes look so much bigger when i only apply soft black eyeliner from the middle to outer section on the top lid, mainly because my eye loses the "droop" effect. :) also, if you don't have white eyeliner you can use a really simple shimmer eyeshadow (i use a neutral one with only a hint of shimmer) on the top of your lids, it brightens up your eye area. just DON'T line all the way or make the line too thick, i make mine only so the tiniest bit can be seen when my eye is open.

do you have dark eye circles? using concealer to hide them is also awesome.

Ditto. Mascara makes your eyelashes appear longer, bringing more attention to the eyes and making them look bigger.

But make sure that your mascara doesn't look chunky :3

I only line my lower lashes.
So......
I use black eyeliner in my inner rims.
and white eyliner just at the beginning of my lashes, where my rims end.

and then I curl my upper lashes.

& Tada.

Ehh, doesn't work for my eyelashes. I've tried a billion kinds of mascara; it just doesn't work for me. Mascara doesn't do much for me and I think I just look awkward. Maybe it's cause I have like no eyelashes and it's really fine and short. But I know people with thick, long lashes and they put on like a coat or two and it really makes their eyes pop! I wish I had cool eyelashes ermm.gif

Heyy!! I barely have any eyelashes either. Don't feel bad. My grammie, when I was younger, heard that if you trimmed the eyelashes a little, they'll grow longer.. Well, she kept on "trimming" mine and now I barely have anything. I have to buy those eyelash grow-ing gel things. mad.gif

LOL!

Yeah, that's a myth, isn't it? Like cutting your hair makes it grow faster?

Ohh! Eyelash grow gel things? Please do tell! tongue.gif Share your secrets, oh wise one!

^ Try these following links

- one
- two
- three three(larger size)

Hope those links will help you.

Personally, I wouldn't use them because my eyelashes are long ENOUGH. Not long, but long enough XD

Winnieeee! I found youuuu! happy.gif Okay anyways, I'd suggest these brands of eyeliner that I've found to be very effective.
  1. Lancome Le Stylo Waterproof Long Lasting Eyeliner. It lasts for a long time, and the waterproof part actually works. Trust me, I use this during swimming. I have this in plum, which is a dark purple that isn't too flamboyant, but effective in bringing out the eyes. Cost: $22
  2. Very Sexy Eye Liner Pen. Yes, it's from Victoria Secret. If you're one of those people who have trouble applying liquid eyeliner, this is hassle-free. It goes on very nicely and stays on. Cost: $12
  3. Clinique Brush On Cream Liner. This is the one I use most often. It's the equivalent of liquid eyeliner, but I think it's better. It comes with a small brush to dip into the small container and apply as needed. This allows you to control the intensity (thin or thick lines), and you can smudge accordingly. I have this in deep brown. The only problem I have with this is always having to clean the brush off after application, which is kind of tedious. But other than that, it looks great, works well, and this small container will last you a VERY, VERY, VERY long time. It's most cost effective. Cost: 14.50
Maybe I'll post pictures up later happy.gif
