Okay I was talking to Stefan on aim, I don't know you if you guys remember him or not. Since he got all caught up in school when it started and now we miss him dearly.

Anywayyy, back to the point. I was talking to him because I wanted his opinon on a idea I was having, and I wanted someone that was a member of cB before making a topic of it. To see if the idea had any hope it before wasting some thread space. Okay I'll just copy the convo. remove all screen names and just put what the main idea is: [er um stuff without a name is mine and then I left a short comment that stefan left beside his name to what I said.] Oh stuff in these [] are me too.

What do you think if there was like one little forum for like non Pg-13 topics. Since so many topics get closed because of the pg-13 rule. I mean most of the community is well over 13 years old.

Stefan: seeing as almost all of my comments go out to an over pg 13 audience usually.

And plenty of people throughout the community talk on the phone, so they got to be something around 14-20

Stefan: Yah
Stefan: [then he made this cute face>] ^_^

Yea I suppose I could add more, but I suppose thats good enough for now.

Oh like a Mature forum or something. I'm not so sure, I mean it's still a good idea.

Well then I said this in me and Stafan's convo. Of course after this we kind of got off topic and talked about people hugging people. blink.gif

I mean perhaps we could make it when you sign up you put in your birthday, and people are gullible and put their actual b-day and if their under 13 then their pretty much ip blocked from that room til they turn 13.

Ranniel, I haven't talked to you in forever. I remember when you made that anime myspace layout and then I added you on myspace and left you comments every now and then. And then I didn't see you on cB anymore and now I've seen you alot more around here. How are you? I guess you can tell me your answer in a PM or something so we can stay on topic in here pinch.gif

Well I mean, also If someone even over 13 is going to go in there and be highly immature then its a little annoying. Although they need to make the choice of being mature and being able to stay in there or perhaps be immature and spam around and just get warned.

And I guess it does go along with Maturity. Which I'm sure some people perhaps under 13 could have a high maturity level, kind of impossible at times.

Is the whole IP block for a single sub forum even possible? And you know as soon as members found out there was a PG-13 forum they'll just make a new name and go see what's in it. lol. That's what I did when I was younger with those types of things. laugh.gif

Psssh. We have 12 year olds phone partying with us. *looks at monica* XD.gif

Okay, back to the point. As James said, people under 13 will go in. I actually don't mind - as long as they're mature. But then again, some of the people over 13 aren't excactly mature either. mellow.gif

^ she has a point, actually. there are quite a few people who are well over 13 whom i not like to witness atempting to participate in a mature conversation.

Hasn't this idea been brought up before and was summarily shot down? No wait, I think it was a request for a "college" community subforum or something, but is that really different than what's being proposed? Hmm. There were good opposing arguments but it's been so long ago that I've forgotten.

Anyway, a forum to serve the postings of non-pg-13 material would be hard to moderate and make the first rule in the Community Guidelines worth... shit? Unless it's changed, of course.

Thinking that it would be a "mature" forum is also problematic. Not many people between ages 14-20 are truly mature. And as you all have said before, there are some mature 13 year olds. Would you leave them out? And then, if you kick out immature 14-20 year olds, that would defeat the purpose of the forum. Unless someone can measure or define "immaturity", I don't see how this forum would work.

Yes
I highly agree with this thing though
since most of my posts and a lot of other people curse a lot in their post, and if we had one section just for that knid of junk where we were a loud, then maybe we wouldnt do it as much in other seeing as this would probably becoe the most used thing.
SO I highly agree with holly

So if I'm someone who likes to throw personal attacks (also against the Community Guidelines) at someone else, I should have my own forum to do that, too, right? I'm sure many members would enjoy that, not just me.

Edit. James, I wanted to say the same, but you took the words out of my mouth.

Or something to that effect

i would like to note that you can't see R movies untill you're 17.

PG-13 doesnt' mean suitable for kids under 13. quite the opposite.

so; since the majority of cB users are still under 17, i don't think we should have a more mature forum.

-shrugs- I don't care if people under 13 go in there, I know plenty of people that are under 13 and talk about the same things as people over 13. But when topics that people really want to know about simply get closed because of a simple pg-13 rating, perhaps have somewhere for them to be mvoed to.

Or we need to lighten up on this whole pg-13 law. It seems like the littlist thing gets closed. Stuff I would see in a pg-13 enviroment anytime.

Yea Tina, I know what your saying. Although there are some people that are mature. I mean if your going to act imatualy about mature things you my as well just leave.

I agree to an extent that people are too quick to label something as being 'non-pg13', but i think the soloution ought to be more consideration from mods, rather than a seperate forum, which would very likely NOT be dominated by actual mature discussion

Why would we want a "Mature" forum? And there's really no point to it.. if the ten-year-olds want to read topics which have PG-13 titles, it's their fault. And if you tried make the forum inaccessible to less than 13-year-olds, how would you do it? I know I certainly wasn't 13 when I joined. rolleyes.gif

Well I wouldn't mind if just everyone would think things through before closing things to quickly. Which recently I think it has been better. I guess a lot of stuff that gets closed could go to discussion so it could be moved somewhere else.
