Hello everybody. I'm new here. I've done some searching both on LJ and on the web in general and can't find an answer to my question, so I figured I'd try here.
Does anyone know how to customize a LJ S2 layout that by default does not offer the option to show userpics so that it can show userpics with each entry? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!! :) elise r. |

i think i know the answer to this. i'm going to check my lj because i think i'm using s2. brb with the answer.
okay, i checked and i AM using s2. and if you go here: http://www.livejournal.com/customize/options.bml (while you're logged in) the fourth option should be: show user picture icons with each of your entries? and it should be automatically checked no so just change it to yes. i think that should do it. :) but if that doesn't work, can you tell me what layout you're using? it might require the css code. |

Wow, that page is layout-specific; if a layout by default does not show userpics by every entry, than that option is not going to be available on that page.
![]() Read the page I linked as well as the other entry linked within that page. |

i'm pretty sure that she wants to be able to choose whether or not she can show userpics for each individual entry.
i'm afraid its an all or nothing deal. |

Well, currently, the layout I'm using is Generator, which is one of a number of layouts which do not have a Yes or No option to display userpics -- it just automatically doesn't display them.
While I do know some CSS, I'm not familar at all with LJ's custom S2 code. I guess my question is if there's just some sort of general code in LJ to "turn them on." I hope that makes more sense. :) elise |

well, if you're using generator then you can't display userpics.
but, you can use a different style. try: peoplemachines or letsbebad... they have really nice layouts. and some of them somewhat look like the generator style. |

or just use generator with S2...
if you have a paid account, you can also "build' your generator layout to display userpics. you could also make a theme layer for any S2 layout, possibly coding it so that only some entries would display userpics. |
