Long story short:

I want to join tennis for a better resumé but I also want to play too:

Reasons for not joining:

I suck compared to others who are in

Reasons for:

Better resumé

So Yes or no for me?

Yes, practice makes perfect, and colleges won't see that you suck from a transcript alone. And the fact that you aren't good won't come into play unless you plan on getting in on athletic reasons/an athletic scholarship.(I assume you mean for college, I don't know many jobs that are wowed by tennis skills)

Join, cmon... there's nothing wrong with getting better at something. BTW, tennis is more of a one-on-one type sport so you probably won't screw up the whole team.

don't join

It might effect your school work and if you really do suck, you will be made fun of.

JOIN, tennis team was (is) my best high school experience. I sucked when I joined my freshman year, but you get better. Plus it's the best sport ever. Plus girls dig tennis guys.

My final verdict:

Ill join next year

Yes, its a disappointing decision but im a disappointment anyway......

I just cant stand my self sucking and even worse, screw up the team as I am responsable not to only myself but all the team members...... our team already dint make it past the qualifiers last year and I rather not join for the greater good.

Ill train this year, get my serving back and perfect my shots and Ill join

you must DEFINITELY join
it doesn't matter if you suck, because when you play better people, you'll get way better
and chances are, if you suck, you won't be a starter so (unless ur school is diff) matches against other schools wont bring ur score down
but tennis is awesomeosem
so JOIN =)

also~
for most schools,
the higher ur grade is, the less likely u are to make it
so u must always start as early as possible

You can join the team and practice. Or you can be a fill-in for someone. That's what I'm planning on doing since I'm pretty rusty.

Trust me, tennis team is really fun. At first, I didn't want to join and I talked to my friends about it. We went to the tryouts this week and it was pretty awesome. I know I'm definitely joining my school's team.

yes you should! actually im in a situation like that.
i enjoy playing badminton, however i suck compare to others. a LOT! but people encouraged me, even the coaches and my other teammates. but if i suck, i suck, they're not going to lie to me. but they'll help me and help me improve my technique.

if i don't join i'll stay where i am, if i join i could only get better. in the worst case scenerio i won't improve at all. but at least i tried!

so yea!

your school's so lucky! your tennis season starts now?!?!! ours start in like...march T_T

They're probably just having tryouts right now, like my school is.
Tennis usually starts in the spring.

Just join! See if you like it or not. You can always quit if you don't like it.

^ That would ruin the entire team though. A tennis team requires a certain amount of players (no extras), so if one player quits, it's a mess.
